Freed by Destruction
I loved the twirling shades of red in the sky. As the sun succumbed to night, garnet streaks danced with flecks of brilliant gold. The grass beneath me was charred, once so full of life and lush, was somehow comforting. In that single moment, it seemed as if all was fine. I was stuck in time as the colours glimmered across the endless sky, a light-show of nature. A bone-chilling breeze caressed my blemished skin. As the shades settled into night and moonlight shone across the horizon, I retreated to the only place I could retreat to in such conditions. A small structure fashioned out of fallen wooden rubble and debris was rather pathetic, but the destroyed world was pathetic itself. It was pitiful indeed, but it was all I could do. In the reality of what previously was society’s worst fear, I could only do so much to survive.
