First World Nations
The hollow celluloid ball crossed the table with enough force and intent to capture the attention of those around it. The Delaware Institute of Technology, recreation room in Newark, Delaware buzzed. Constantly, the pads met the ball, and the rhythmic sound created a small concert between the two players.
The Wilmington, Delaware courtroom was empty save for Gadot, Myson, Vala, and all their lawyers. Moore’s recommendation, Torrance Skilling, was with Gadot’s family lawyer, Trent Gull. Vala had representation from Cooney’s lawyers, including Maxwell Garvey, Tina Soisson, and Nella Dern. The two students may have been outnumbered, but the firepower from their two attorneys would suffice.
The tapping of the screen had a musical quality. Banker Hampton looked at the phone, and finally found the government dating site. He scrolled down the page and tapped on a video:
A Glowing Carnage
The engineers had written “Ally” in Arabic on one of the nuclear warheads, and “Friend” on the other, but in Persian. The irony was rich that night, as the stars on the shoulders and collars sparkled like Tiffany jewels. The men and women of the United States Armed Forces, the generals and admirals, and the civilian secretary of defense, all linked up in a tight room. A small table with glowing screens, and a few places for the top brass to sit added to the tension.
The Green Eyeshade
The hallway to McLaskey and Turner Financial on the Wilmington, Delaware Stock Exchange (WiSE), bustled with people. The shuffle of papers made a whooshing sound.
