The bright light of the morning sun woke me up that day as it comes through the drapes of my closed bedroom window. I lied on my bed staring at the ceiling with an arm over my forehead.
Helen and I were married for 4 years before we decided to get a divorce. She is a very intelligent woman when I first met her on her business trip in Dubai about 2 years before we got married. I was there on vacation and when we found out we were living in the same area back home, we just got to talking and when we came back, decided to start dating and that was that. She was widowed quite young and had to look after her daughter Samantha all on her own. She's really into her career and her job needed her to be away a lot. That's actually why we ended up divorcing because it started to feel like she married me just so she gets free child care as I work from home.
When I was young, I used to play with a girl called Alice. We used to make mud cakes together, play hide and seek, and pretend husband and wife in our little house made of boxes. Alice is my mom’s cousin’s daughter so I always knew her as my cousin too. One day though, they had to move away and I never saw her again.
After college, we really just lose touch with many of our old friends. Thank goodness for social networking though, we can still say ‘hi’ to each other from time to time.
Many years ago, I was working as a teacher for nursing students. As a nurse, it was hard to find a job in a hospital so the other only choice was to join the academe and teach. The only problem was I was still inexperienced as a nurse so I can only teach 1st year and 2nd year nursing students where it is only all about theories rather than practical things.
Back in 2009, I suffered the worst break-up ever. Emily and I have been together for 2 years before she left me and when it happened, I was a complete wreck.
