DaveTop Story - October 2023
I call him Dave. He is in my head. I hear the harsh awful whispers not in my ear but in my head. I have tried to ignore him, yet he is there. He says in my head to take all my medications at once as I am a stupid ant. I look at my medications-Clonazepam, Olanzepine, Seraquel and Cipralex. He repeats the request with more urgency. Oh overdosing would be nice. No more pain, no more anger, and no more Dave.

Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are categorized by a pathological means of either restricting food or over indulgence in food that becomes a persistent behavioral pattern. These behaviors tend to have negative emotions and thoughts surrounding food. The cause is still unknown and being debated and researched. In 2006 when I took my first Psychology course the one line that stood out to me is that Psychology is empirical. That means it has to be observed and regarding Psychology, it is ever changing. There has been some studies on the basis of eating disorders that genetics do play a link. This is not very much elaborated on, yet there is a direct correlation when observing twin studies.

Psychopaths
A few weeks ago, one Vocal creator whom I love to read stories from and who also reciprocates reads, L. C. Schafer, wrote about what makes a person a writer. I commented if you can write in code it makes you one. Obviously there are so many different things that can make you one. This particular theory comes from something I feel I owe an apology for. Last year a Vocal challenge was Christopher Paolini's challenge where you write a story about a lost/abandoned toddler who is found by a dragon. My submission was not much of a fantasy story. It was a dark and disturbing story writing in code about myself and how I fell victim to a dark empath.

Get To Know Me #Challenge
I heard about this challenge via other writers and it intrigues me to read about others' lives. I have spoken about how Vocal is like a music band consisting of many instruments and musicians. We are all different and yet united. Here are ten things about me to bring to light.

Crisis
We are all familiar with "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" phenomena. This one September day, the health line assumed that. Some young boys dialed 911 as a joke. Their parents were out of the house. However, a few blocks away there was a young boy whose sister was kidnapped. He would have been kidnapped too but he hid himself well. He grabbed a cordless phone and called for help. The people on the other line scolded him while he tried to remain calm. It turned out the people handling the call hung up. The poor boy buried his head in his arms praying for the best.

The Manchurian Candidate
A great remake of a classic film. Liev Shreiber, Denzel Washington, and Meryl Streep team up and make a thriller about mind control intriguing. Shreiber is the to be President and the scenes whilst they have "the dreams" accurately describe a psychosis. It is a must see movie for everyone.

Veronika Decides To Die
It has been several years, perhaps a decade when I read this book. A young girl, Veronika, feels like the world is a wasteland. She has a pessimistic view of human nature and feels life is meaningless. She is from Slovenia and sees life as a chore. One day she overdoses on sleeping pills in order to let herself die peacefully in sleep. Upon waking, she finds herself in a mental hospital. The doctor tells her that from the drugs she has sustained necrosis in her heart and has little time to live. She is shocked at the news and she realizes that very soon she will never wake again.

A Beautiful Mind
Entertaining to watch, however does not depict an accurate description of Schizophrenia or John Nash's life. Nash suffered homelessness, he separated from his wife-they got back together after he became compliant with is medication-and he did not have visual hallucinations. Schizophrenia is not just hallucinations, it is a dynamic illness.

Divergent Movie
Divergent movie was poorly executed but I have to say intrigued me. While author Veronica Roth did not mean Divergent to be about the politically correct term Neurodivergent referring to a mind with autism like traits, it accurately depicts how society punishes people who do not think the same.

Three Little Pigs
There were once three little pigs who were set off in separate ways to create a society. They were brothers, yet had different views. Naturally competitive by nature but with a thought to create the perfect environment. The three brothers were Bill, Bob, and Frank.
