Beguiling Blue
Beguiling Blue was the name of the hotel I booked for my stay in enchanting paradise. A strange name that I believe could mean that you would be charmed and feel hopeful here in Santa Monica while staring over the dazzling beaches and then would have to go home back to your usual life again. Tricked by all the beauty and sparkles. The sparkles were already currently in my cup as I started the morning of my trip with morning mimosas and crisp, ripe fruit. The strawberries were so full of flavor it made my tongue want to melt into the same red to become one of the fruits itself. “More strawberries Mr. Kyle Hartie of Hartie Enterprises?” the waiter had the gorgeous red plumps staring at me from the platter.

LineLoot
It was a pleasure working with you, but we will no longer be needing your services at this time. Laila’s heart dropped as she read the email to the end of her job. It didn’t make much income, but it at least kept her afloat. She didn’t know what to do with her life at that point. She liked how the job was remote and flexible to where she didn’t have to make a commute to arrive at a workplace every day. There must be something else out there similar to this so that I can have the type of job that I would like to work, she thought to herself. She searched online for what could work and came across a job where you are a warehouse person for small businesses because of how they do not need or cannot afford giant warehouses across the country. It was a company called LineLoot where you would receive packages, take pictures of the contents, and then pack and ship them out. The job only paid monthly instead of bi-weekly like most, but it was a small price to pay for being able to work from home.

Robot Friends
My ex is such a narcissist! We hear people saying this all the time on social media now. The age of talking about narcissistic abuse has become a trend on social media to point out our ex partner’s bad behavior, so would being able to have the option of a robot friend fuel this or is everyone crying out the word narcissist to make the pain feel less? Sometimes we want a connection that fits well with us and it can’t always be found in life. Being able to get a robot friend that can always be by your side may be helpful with a certain level of friendship fulfillment, but at what point does someone need an actual human with flaws instead of programming perfectly how a friend would be and react? Is a robot a pet, real friend, or a new definition we haven’t currently come to the conclusion of yet?

First Month Feelings
Explosions of feelings and excitement of new romance. Dating shows where a chosen candidate romances someone in a matter of days is starting to become popular as we vouch for people who have just met to live happily ever after. Do we really believe we know a person after a moment or knowing them or do we just are them as who we think they should be? When people complain about being in love with someone’s potential as a person, does that mean we believe they could do better or that they just were not who we envisioned for ourselves? In the first month of a relationship we are excited for something new to take on or figure out. We also usually spend less time with the person so we don’t fully see exactly who they are yet or a person may not feel fully comfortable reveling themselves yet.

Santa's TP Sleigh
What does everyone want for Christmas this year? Wouldn’t it be bundles of toilet paper? Right as Coronavirus cases flare up, more people go out to buy toilet paper and other essentials they will think they need for a long period of being stuck in the house, so the stores may possibly be out or just not have the nicest or softest toilet paper that people would like to have. The inspiration for this Christmas card came from the thought of several people sitting down to write Santa a letter and it to say, “All I want for Christmas is the softest toilet paper you can get me.” Then when Santa fills his sleigh with all of this cushion, he would not be able to stay awake during his flight. He is usually riding with toys and other cold, hard, and uncomfortable goodies that he can usually stay up with them pressing into his back, jolting him awake. This year though, he will have a harder time because of how cozy the toilet paper feels behind him.

Sweet Wine Glaze
The lights of the tree sparkle while I place a grapefruit and pine wax melt on the tray of the warmer. I flip the switch on, ready to smell the fresh scent of a real Christmas tree without needing one mixed with the fresh smell of citrus. I then turn on soothing orchestral Christmas music that flowed through house while the wax slowly melted down, releasing the scent while I take a deep breath and smile. I walk to the kitchen and pour myself a glass of red wine. The same wine that I will use to make the glaze for the ham I just brought in from the grocery store. The perfect pairing of salty and sweet goes great with all of the sides that I know the family will be preparing. Deviled eggs, potato salad, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, and cranberry desserts would be carting in later today as the perfect compliments for the tender ham.

Reindeer Poop Cookies
My favorite part of making Christmas goodies is to plop the reindeer poops right next to the gingerbread cookies. My Dad and I love to make them together. He will always pull the recipe out of an old cookie tin to make for Santa. Here is the recipe for these oatmeal drop cookies that are no bake and just dry on wax paper:

Finding Pandemic Pleasantries
“Hurry along with getting your directions and equipment so we can get out of here,” the boss of my boss pops into the conference room in the middle of March. There was already a date set for all of us to start teleworking, but we have to pack it up early because someone in our building got sick and had tested positive for COVID-19. The talk about this virus never occurred to me in my brain that this stay at home lock down was actually going to be happening. There were emails coming to me from my school about how we were going to be switching to online classes, but I just thought that was a worst case scenario that would never actually happen. Here I was though sitting right in the middle of the worst case scenario. Teachers scrambling to make online lectures, work figuring out how we are going to have our meetings, and everyone grabbing at the hand sanitizers in their pockets or purses after touching every door knob.

Beauty Products I'll Use Until the Cows Come Home
When I wake up in the morning, the first part of my beauty routine is to wash my face with my green tea milk facial wash for sensitive skin. This is from Farmhouse Fresh, which has many cruelty free products and helps to rescue farm animals. I have many different products from the company ranging from face masks to lotions. Farm animals have always been a fascination for me and I love to get the pictures of the cows and goats that come with the package when I open it up. I get extremely happy every time I drive by a field of cows. I am definitely the person that yells, “Cows!” every time I see them, or at least some variation. I also like to say “Look how cute the moochas are!” That is a play on the Italian pronunciation for cows. The Italian word for a cow is mucca, but I like to say the word with a big long moo. I even have a realistic looking stuffed cow that is one of my favorites besides my kangaroo and llama stuffed animals.

Kitty Torino's Rabbit Challenge
I love my human, but she isn't the only lady in my life. By that I don’t mean having another female human. I am the neighborhood ladies man. The furry version of course. Right as my human lets me outside, I lay under the mating bush I have chosen, picking flowers with my mouth as a present for the next lady kitty that walks by. A new lady cat has come by the bush to stare at me as I lick my fur, deciding if they would like to get closer. The neighborhood black cat runs around trying to find food while spotting me under my bush. "Hello sir, have you seen any little rabbits around I can sink my teeth into?" she asks me. I wonder if she just stopped to ask in order to find a reason to talk to me.
