Crimes and Punishments
I saw this meme on Facebook this morning. Who doesn't get emotional thinking about this subject? I imagine that there would be many people surprised at how many "Sex Offenders" even get upset thinking about a child getting hurt, molested, or raped. Some of them were charged with a sex crime and labelled a "Sex Offender" for acts that had little to nothing to do with rape or molestation. I've heard so many stories from them because I used to live in a building where many lived because they are restricted from living anywhere once they get labelled a Sex Offender.

Four Films for Psychological Analysis
It is my goal within this editorial to remain neutral and "on the fence" (that is not to choose a side, team, or camp) in regards to the nature/nurture debate that psychologists have described and presented to philosophers and medical professionals. I am familar with the debate enough to provide a brief explanation of the teams. Team Nature would present the benefits of human connection, the family unit, genetic factors, and examples of Naturalism for evidence that appear without technological assistance. Team Nurture would present the benefits of human invention including technology, memory (human and computer), and the necessity of certain provisions and comforts for human development. Having quickly defined the "teams" (although there are many books and articles that give a more in-depth explanation and understanding of the debate) I would like to share with you my thoughts on four films that make me think about the debate: "I am Mother" (directed by Grant Sputore) and "mother!" (directed by Darren Aronofsky), the film "Harry Potter" (book written by J.K. Rowling) and the film "Joker" (directed by Todd Phillips). These films will provide various viewpoints for my "fence" standpoint in this discussion. Team Nature will comprise the films "Harry Potter" and "mother!" whereas Team Nurture consists of the films "I am Mother" and "Joker". All four films use scary and dark themes to prove points for their side of the debate. I remain on the "fence" and do not choose a team because I believe and agree with the validity of all the points made by both sides of the argument.

Forty Years of Concert Attendance
The first concert I ever saw (live in person) was of the band called The Four Seasons with front singer Frankie Valli in 1976. I was 5 years old and I was with my mom and dad sitting on the grassy field listening to his wonderful voice. It was splendid. I hoped I would get to see and hear many more concerts in my life, and I did.

For Teachers Heading back to the Classroom
I'm writing to you teachers heading back to the school house next month (August) because I care about you. Maybe you already have your routine down and you're not planning on changing anything. Good for you, if that works and you're comfortable. However, if you're a teacher still looking for a way to make things "better" for you and the students, I have some ideas to share with you.

My Favorite Fantasy Writers
We all have fantasies, right? I like to think so. As the puny kid we fantasized about scaring the bully in school like Sebastian did in "The Never Ending Story" or maybe as a teenage girl we fantasized about The Goblin King taking us to a whole new world like in "Labyrinth". I love fantasies. A good movie or a good book can help when you're running low on imagination. It's a great escape. It doesn't kill brain cells or make you fat. Fantasies are healthy.

Special Moments Between me and the kids
I have known "children" having been blessed with the opportunity to be a mother, a step-mother, and a nanny. Each "role" taught me a different perspective and a different feeling of responsibility and caring. I am a very critical person of myself and of my loved ones. I want us to be the best we can be at all times and always strive for perfection, whatever that means. This trait was genetically passed on to my son, but the other "children" that I had the pleasure to be acquainted with, did not seem to share this passionate trait as much. They had other gifts and personality stamps that were memorable and treasurable. I feel the time has come to praise those I've had the honor of knowing in my mind or heart as "children".

The Timeless Joy of Hobbying
Obviously I have a passion for my writing. It has been my oldest and most utilized passion or hobby. Many people say that you ought not do what you love for a career, as the pressure to please others for the paycheck will make one dislike what they originally loved and enjoyed doing. This is the case many times, but for me it doesn't usually happen with writing. A few times I have had paid writing jobs, and I'll admit it wasn't as fun for me as when I write without restrictions or expectations; However, I find joy and comfort and peace in writing, especially if I can do so with a typewriter or traditional computer keyboard. I love it. I love reading too, but I find it so much easier for me to write rather than read. Whether I'm writing a poem or a short story or an editorial or even just coming up with some jokes, I find the whole process a miraculous gift that I have the blessing of enjoying while providing.

Unexpected Package
Briana Murphy was sitting in her living room comfortably enjoying the air conditioning and her favorite movie "Great Expectations" when the postman knocked on her front door. She opened the door and saw the postman holding a brown paper box. She became a bit suspicious. She hadn't ordered anything, and could not imagine what it was.

Thelma & Louise (The Sequel)
This is not a movie review of the film "Thelma and Louise". I know the film, and I'm hoping any readers of this piece of writing know the film also. If you have not seen the film I will give you a brief summary and explain why I think this film is important and useful.

Sansa and Daenerys
Before I begin my analysis of two characters I want to admit that I did not read the books that George R.R. Martin wrote. My analysis is based only on my fanship of the H.B.O. show "Game of Thrones". I was obsessed with the show and had all of the DVDs in my personal collection. I thought the dialogue was brilliant and always looked for wisdom from all of the characters that Martin introduced us to in this epic.

An Important Film: 55 Steps
Yesterday was June 5th, and I thought about the significance of the day to me: 1. My beloved grandmother was born and died on that day. 2. I got married on that day. My husband took me to breakfast and later I watched a movie. That was the extent of my celebration of the day. The movie that I watched was titled "55 Steps" (a DVD that I borrowed from Netflix) and I thought the movie was important - enough to warrant writing a review about.

Thoughts on the Film: Rush
Although the film "Rush" came out in 2013, I did not see it for the first time until several years later. I don't know how the dvd came into my possession or why I decided to watch a movie about car racers as I have never been a fan of the sport or educated in the history of the cars or racers. Yet this film had such an impact on my soul that it is ranked as one of my all time favorites on my mental list.
