Infidelity rocks the entire status of a relationship. Couples in these kinds of situations are often presented with two options: the path to ruin or reconciliation. My husband and I chose the latter, and, in this journey, we found a greater love than ever before.
A Little Girl's Best Friend
Dolly really should be the spokespup for breaking the stigma of pit bulls. Covered in blonde fur, Dolly (as in Dolly Parton) has some of the most soulful eyes I have ever seen. She practically smiles when she is happy and looks like she could be in those Sarah McLachlan ASPCA videos when she is sad. This gentle girl will smother anyone with love, affection, and slobbery kisses if they pay her a speck of attention.
Still Waiting On My Hogwarts Letter
I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on a flight and refused to return to the muggle world. I was the same age as Harry, Ron, and Hermione when the first book came out. With every page, I was transported to this beautiful school. I was bullied by Professor Snape, received guidance from Professor McGonagall, quarreled with Draco, and won my first quidditch match. I faced a three-headed dog, rode a broom amongst animated keys, won a life-size game of Wizard’s Chest, and came face-to-face with the world’s most feared wizard. I experienced friendship, cast spells, and felt the pang of sadness when the year was over. At the age of eleven, this was the most fantastic adventure I had taken, and I repeated this adventure repeatedly. As the following years unfurled, the experience continued to seduce me and holds me completely smitten to this day.
Home Is Where They Are
I have felt at Home in the house we bought as newlyweds And in the apartment, we took up when our baby just started to walk
Mental Health and Incarceration
I have been in the mental health field for fourteen years, and I have learned more about myself than I ever thought I would. My career does not change the world in significant ways. There are no celebrations, no parades, no capes. But we do have superpowers. They aren’t generally flashy, but we have the means to mend the broken pieces in people and enable them to be their own heroes. Each mental health facility I worked in grounded new perspectives and valuable lessons that have reformed how I approach the world.
Oh My Little One
Oh my little one! How bittersweet it is to watch you grow From the sweetest babe in my arms To this sweet toddler of mine
The Pear Tree
That pear tree had been planted the day he was born. And every year, the tree branched higher and higher to the sky. As a lad, he took wonder in the flowering branches. He loved the smell and beauty of the blossoms as their petals caressed his cheek. He would spend hours under its coverage, reading a book or enacting wonderous adventures in its boughs. Sometimes he was a pirate, surveying the sea from the crow’s nest. Sometimes he was a jungle cat, watching his prey drink water under his concealed perch. Sometimes, he was the world’s famous trapeze artist, receiving thunderous applause for his spectacular performance.
Soul Food I love the conversations that feed your soul Spoonfuls of memories that made us happy and more robust and humbled us to the core
