18) The Temptation of the Rose Victoria II felt herself reaching for the crystal rose. She didn’t remember ever seeing an artifact of such beauty before. She rejoiced in her heart such a gift was left for her. She just had to touch and admire it. Yet, something wasn’t right. As her hand closed in on the rose, she heard voices of warning calling from the background. One of which was her own from the back of her own mind. But why would touching such a beautiful thing be wrong?

17) The Board Is Set Mitzi was doing her best to find her way to the palace. However, she was new to this town, so she had, at some point, gotten hopelessly lost. So, something her grandfather taught her, “When you’re lost, backtrack to the place where you started and regather your reckoning”. So that was what she did, still being mindful of her surroundings and being careful she wasn’t being tracked.

16) Tin in the Cup Sir Markus stood outside Her Eminence’s office waiting admittance. He had submitted an emergency appointment request through her secretary half an hour before. He was careful to keep his outer appearance of a very worried man. Inside he was calm as ice. He knew for his next move he had to appear to be near panic for The Civilization’s and Her Eminence’s sake. He also knew, however, he needed to keep his head clear in order to ensure this step be flawless.

15) Dark Leechcraft Victoria II stood with her back to the room, looking out the window toward the eastern sunrise. The other occupants of the room were quietly but uneasily awaiting Her Eminence’s pleasure. The War Room had rows of chairs and a huge table dominated by a raised relief map of The Civilization. It was to be a council of Victoria’s most trusted group. This included five from the Arch Mage Council, Dr Saba and two more of the Healer’s Guild Council. There were also representatives of eight major religions of Zahn. General Magnus and the four Home Guard major generals were in attendance as well.

14) Night Hunt John Wingate was walking along the dark street on his way back to the old Calador manor house where he was staying. He was taking in a bit of the nightlife of Grandeur City. In other words, he was a bit inebriated. However, not so much he didn’t feel he was being tracked. So, he pretended to stumble into an alley to relieve himself. He waited, drawing his sword cane.

12) While the Cat’s Away Sir Markus was taking advantage of the distraction caused by the attack on the former street orphan. He made his way down some back alleys and other footpaths to a location he had painstakingly kept secret. All the while he was keeping an eye out to make absolutely sure he wasn’t being followed.

9) The Ointment and the Fly Two weeks ago, … Maritza Walker, or Mitzie to her friends had just arrived at the parking lot for the Brass Goggles Association of Austin Texas. She was there for the Fifth Annual Fashion and Gears Festival. This was the third time she had taken part in the competition. She was hoping she would finally win the clockworks competition instead of second place like she had the previous two years.

8) Justice’s Hammer Falls Judge Sir Henry Waldheim sat behind the bench waiting for the next case. He was the magistrate of minor cases on the palace grounds as well as for all cases for the district immediately surrounding the Imperial Palace.
