When you need to clear your head, sometimes it just takes a breath of fresh air. Bring whatever you’d like. Take a bag if you like having it just in case, a jacket or umbrella if there might be rain, but most importantly, you must bring yourself. Take that first step, and start on your way. Whatever direction you choose, it is your own.
Let’s face it, 2020 has been a dumpster fire of a year. There’s a lot of negativity out there, and it’s easy to feel down. I’ve conditioned myself over the years to be an optimist, and so focusing on the good to try to combat and fix the bad is pretty much my job. With that job, I’m here to brighten your day and talk about “Dynamite”, the new single from BTS that’s sure to be a positive anthem to help us through the rest of this hellish year.
The only event Gregory truly looked forward to was his weekly journey to the 24/7 Sunset Diner. Like every other Saturday night, the little raccoon crawled out from his den under a fallen tree to trek across the woods. Once he spotted the soft red and orange light through the trees, he knew Sunset Diner was just ahead.
Midnight Sun is one of the most anticipated novels of this year. A return to the Twilight universe? From Edward’s point of view? Say no more. I was jumping up and down when I pre-ordered my copy. I read it immediately and raced through this mammoth of a book. I can't stop thinking about it.
Where would this world be without you both? Without you both together? It started slowly, and crept up on us faster than we could have ever imagined, becoming the most enduring love story of the past few months.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is insane. The characters, the stories, and most importantly, the hairstyles. I’ve never watched such a fun, engrossing anime, and naturally it’s my favorite of all time. A great thing about JoJo is that each season has a different protagonist and story. As time goes on, the descendants of the titular Joestar family fight all sorts of villains and get into, dare I say, bizarre adventures. Basically, everything you need to know is in the title. The first season is a little different in that it encompasses both the first and second arcs of the Joestar story. The first part, Phantom Blood, is only nine episodes long, but I wanted to separate it from the second part, Battle Tendency. They’re both so different and amazing for different reasons, so it’s only right to give them each their own time to shine. We’ll call this one the first in my Jojo review series, since I’ll do a review for each part.
It's no secret to anyone who knows me: I have anxiety. I'm fidgety, I get nervous easily, and it usually ends up with me having a bag case of jittery legs and way too tense shoulders. I tend to release energy with going to the gym, heading to a store, or walking dogs. With COVID, I haven't had that opportunity for outdoor activities. I've also been working my 9 to 5 job every day, keeping me inside without having to commute in and out of the city. To recap, I've been anxious about the virus, anxious about not being as active as usual, and anxious because the name of my mental illness is "General Anxiety Disorder" (Let's not mention the Depression, OCD, etc.). I have a lot of nerves with few outlets. Luckily, I've always been a creative lady, so I've found a few different ways to keep myself going in these trying times. It's the little things that matter to me, and by doing these small activities, I've stayed active and kept my mental health in a good place.
If "Stay Gold" wasn’t enough for you, as it clearly overwhelmed me, then have no fear. BTS has released their latest Japanese album. The majority of the album is made up of repackaged Japanese versions of their hit songs from previous albums Map of the Soul and the Love Yourself albums. As a result, I’ve already gone over most of these songs, so I won’t go into each of them in detail like I usually do. If you want to know just how great "Black Swan" is, or why it’s such a joy to hear songs from Persona again, you can click on the hyperlinks to bring you there!
