The clever clues of the movies I would eventually understand
All of my life I have been surrounded by the media, and I always wanted to know how it was made. My mother would play me the songs that she liked, and she became my gateway to classic movies and the timeless songs that she couldn't wait to play for me in the car. She would tell me the stories about movies I would watch when I was much older about how a man named John McClane said this one phrase that I should never say in front of my grandmother. How Prince was told off by his father and said he never be a musician because he never memorized his music in his mind. I listened to all the stories and eventually would watch the movies at my mother had told me about. But there were some movies that I did see, or figurines or posters and I look at them and not understand what they were at that time, but I never forgot the time I discovered what I didn't understand.

The Films I Love Because Of Nina
My grandmother was someone that never particularly cared for taking a trip to the movie theater to go see the newest movie that came to theaters or anything. But on the days that my mother worked her long hours at her job at quest diagnostics, my grandmother would sit down with me and we would split a can of Diet Coke and we would watch a movie together while we waited for my mother to come pick me up. We didn’t do it often because my grandmother did not like how much I was into movies and television shows. On those weekdays, they were very precious to me just to relax and get to show her something that interested me and then to get the reaction from her is something that I’ll always remember.

Why Fire In The Sky should be an addition to the Halloween collection
When it comes to the sci-fi genre, the alien premise can be a dime a dozen. The only ones that aren't a cash-in of other sci-fi horror story premises are the ones based off of a true story. It can't steal from other stories because it is a true story. The movie lists have been changing recently, and there’s one particular movie that I’ve seen pop up on numerous lists that have to do with Alien movies or alien movies based off true accounts. After seeing a familiar title on these movie lists, it’s sparked the interest, and I had to wonder, what is fire in the sky?

Getting Over My Fear Of ChuckyTop Story - October 2021
Fear is a fickle thing, there are several types of minor fears, major fears, and unfathomable fears. What I saw in 2004 on the outside of the Regal Cinemas wall of posters was a moment I wouldn't forget because it was the second time in my life I saw something beyond my child's comprehension, but the first time I felt fear in my core.

Why Elvira: Mistress of the dark movie is an honorable horror film
It’s not just a Halloween movie, I had heard of Elvira: mistress of the dark. I would scroll past it on Hulu, there was a slight interest but it when it comes to horror movies for me, I don't normally do the ones that have comedy in it. Last year in October, I was looking for a horror movie after re-watching all of my fall fright festive films. I gambled on a new film to watch, this time when I found Elvira on the list of horror films, I didn't scroll past it. I clicked it, I watched it, and I accidently loved it. It parodied other films, it was written with self-awareness of the clichés in horror films. It written to be funny on purpose with purpose. But I found out that it held more significance then just being apart of the horror culture.

That 70's Wardrobe
The 70s, a decade that still inspires fashion styles even 50 years later. It was all about the pretty patterns of plaid, stripes, flowers, funky shapes, and the colors of all shades with endless possibilities. People walked down the streets as a work of art that came to life.

I'm proud that I had an IEP
I’ve always found it interesting to know someone else’s experiences in school. To know what they went through different then what my course in school was, so I can have an open mind to be courteous and respectful. I never felt jealous if someone did go through school better then me. I have a lot of respect to those that matured in school, it shows character for their decisions outside of school and after school

The Family Dog Knew I Had Cancer
Animals have a special sensing that goes beyond some of the sixth sense or heightened senses that most humans have. Without even talking or speaking there’s an empathy that animals can feel despite being a different species than the human species. When I was younger there was a family dog, and the last family pet of my grandparents. To give some backstory my grandparents had a Boston terrier that they loved and then after the passing of that beloved Boston terrier. My grandparents got another family dog and then this dog would be the last pet that they ever had, and also the best pet they ever had.

Why I’m Torn About My Name
I’ve gone by many names over the years, Sami, Sami boo boo, Fruitcake, Sami-Bami, Penelope Pee Pants Parrish, but Samantha is not one of the names that I like. This gives a whole new spin on My Name is by Eminem, can you imagine the verse Slim Shady replaced with Pee Pants Parrish? (not a bad rap right, but I'll leave the rapping to slim shady).
