My Job Corps Experience, Chapter 3
The next morning I knew it was time to “Rise and Grind.” Now I’m not going to lie to you I’m not an early morning person. 9:30 or 10:30 am I can do, but 6:00 in the morning, I don’t know. We’re cutting it kind of close here Captain. I hear the knocks on the doors from SGA and staff, and I knew it was time to make moves. I went in the bathroom wash my face, brushed my teeth, put on some clothes, made sure I had my dorm room keys, made up my bed and I was out.

2005 And Me
As I pulled up to the house on Prospect Avenue I immediately felt at home. It looked small from the outside, but when I looked up I noticed that the house had a second floor, and a basement down below. It sat right next door to a mini church. Which made interesting conversation on Sunday afternoon. The steps stood out to me because they were blue and kind of curved. I grabbed my bag form the car and I headed in the house. It was the middle of the day and the house was empty. All the guys were either at work or at school.

MY JOB CORPS EXPERIENCE CHAPTER ONE
By the time the middle of the year 2007 came around, it I felt a lack of purpose and I hit a wall. I had moved to back to Iowa that May after leaving Orlando, Florida. I lived with my then girlfriend Lisa for the remainder of the year. She moved into this beautiful three- bedroom home in Cresco, after living in Calmar, Iowa for a lengthy period of time. While I still lived in Orlando, I proposed to help her move. I was happy and excited that she finally was moving into her dream home, but I also knew that she would let me stay there because she loved me.

14 HOURS IN CHICAGO, CHAPTER TWO
From the moment that the Greyhound bus pulled off from the Orlando Bus Terminal I started to think and feel this emotional war take place inside me. It felt like my conscious was playing tug of war with my emotions. I like to equate this feeling with an analogy that I like to call “Two Teams”. There were two teams on the opposite side of the “ Tug of War Knot” that was in the middle of the rope. The “Red Team” was on one side and The “Green Team” was on the other. The “Red team” represented emotions of anxiety, nervousness, wonder, uncertainty, regret, and sadness.

MY JOB CORPS EXPERIENCE, CHAPTER TWO: MY FIRST DAY IN DENISON
After getting on the bus I immediately felt the change. It was a reality and I was finally doing something with myself. I had thought about all of the actions that led me to this point, and it was almost like it was meant for this to happen. What I did not realize was how long this ride was going to be. Denison was six hours from Cresco, and we had to pick other students up as well.

14 Hours In Chicago, Chapter One: From Iowa To Florida
In September of 2006 I had been in Decorah Iowa for about 10 months. I was living with my then girlfriend Lisa in Calmar, Iowa. Which is about 20 minutes south of Decorah, Iowa, which is the areas biggest town. My brothers Imir, Paul, and I had pretty much did everything in Iowa that a young 20 years old could do. We partied, we drank, and we lived life day to day. We were young men that were exposed to a whole new environment. I’d moved from New York to Iowa in December of 2005 from the Promesa Shelter in the Bronx, NY.

2005 And Me Chapter One: From South Jersey To The Covenant House
Image provided by Wikipedia The year 2004 wasn’t kind to me to say the least. It was a far cry from where I was a year prior in 2003. I had graduated high school and it seemed great things were on the horizon. What a difference a year makes. My mother and I got evicted from our apartment in the Bronx, NY. Late rent and high bill payments took their toll so we were forced to leave. Our neighbor was nice enough to let my mother and I stay there for a while.

Thirteen And Learning
My mother and stepmother argued on a lot of occasions, but this time it felt like something was different. In the recent days I started to hear the anger and the frustration in their voices every time that they spoke. It felt like two lionesses who were apart of a pride, who loved each other, but started to become annoyed with each other. You started to see the dislike, hear the animosity, you felt the tension like cold frozen water. Sometimes I didn’t know if I was the cause of their tension.
