Saying Goodbye
As we lose sight of a ship on the horizon, the ship remains with us. Where else would it go? To our perception, it grows smaller and smaller until it fades from view ... but this is only OUR perspective from where we stand. The ship remains the same size, with the same abilities, and the same purpose. We just can't see it anymore.

RebeccaTop Story - April 2021
I obsessively watched her standing there alone in the dark. The silver moonlight flickered on her dark, raven hair like a million tiny diamonds. Her pale blue eyes were thoughtful and attentive to the darkness before her. Her succulent, pouting lips had the appearance of a fine, red wine. I had forgotten just how well-formed and beautiful she was. Knowing that I would never see her again made her seem even more captivating.

How Vocal Has Changed My Life!
I want to share, at least in part, how becoming a writer on Vocal has changed how I perceive myself and why this journey is so important. I experience more joy in life and find myself pursuing opportunities that I never dared consider.

Is There A Wet, Angry Ghost Here?
I am from Northern California, almost at the border of Oregon. Two summers ago my friends invited me to take a trip to Jellico Tennessee with them. They had made reservations to camp at the Indian Mtn Park. They had been there a few times before and had told me how nice it was, so I was excited to go along.

Our ocean is in crisis!Top Story - April 2021
The weather is getting warmer and the beach is calling. You pack your towels, snacks, and sunscreen. Chatter about boogie boarding and sandcastle building fills the air. But you arrive at the beach only to find your favorite spot speckled with plastic containers, newspapers, and food wrappers. What's going on? Our ocean provides us with oxygen to breathe, drives our climate and weather, brings rain to the farmlands, and food to our table. Our seas offer us recreation, transportation, protein, medicine, energy, and unrelenting beauty. But experts agree, our ocean is in crisis. Luckily, it isn’t too late to make a difference.

My Haunted Apartment
When I was 22 my mom helped me get an apartment in Jellico. I was really excited, after growing up in such a very small town, I was so ready for the life away from home, out on my own. I got a small one-bedroom apartment on 5th street. The apartment was on the far side of town from my parents. I always took extra precautions and keep an eye out for anything strange. I was a little nervous being out on my own for the first time. I just didn't know I would be running from what was inside of my own home.

Disturbing Stories From Local Retail Workers
Having worked in retail stores, I sympathize with anyone who has the courage to do it. Retail is surely at the top of the list for jobs that offer small pay and some of the most offensively impolite and ill-mannered customers on the planet.

Kartoffelpuffer w/ Apple Sauce
You don't have to be in Germany to enjoy this awesome treat. Believe it or not, it's pretty rare here in America. Not many people know about this little treasure. I'm not one to keep recipes to myself, I like to share the goodness and allow other people to enjoy it as well.
