Sinch acquires Pathwire, the company behind Mailgun and Mailjet, for $1.9B to add email into its API-based communications platform
Sinch is a Swedish company that competes against Twilio in the messaging APIs market. It has made another major M&A deal to expand its platform. It has agreed to purchase Pathwire the cloud-based email provider behind Mailgun and Mailjet, as well as Email on Acid. Sinch stated that it would pay $925m in cash and 51 million shares of Sinch. Sinch's closing price yesterday (it is traded on the Swedish Stock Exchange Nasdaq Stockhom, and has a market capital of $13.7 billion), works out to an enterprise worth $1.9 billion (SEK 16.6 trillion).

China has been conducting a massive, society-wide crackdown this year. We've seen it in pop culture with the recent suspension of K-Pop accounts via Weibo, a Chinese social networking platform. The banning of Marvel's latest blockbuster was due to comments by the star that were deemed anti-communist. It has been evident in the tech sector with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), tightening the belt on Chinese tech companies like Didi and Meituan because of their "disorderly growth." TikTok Shopping expands with more partnerships, Live Shopping, new ads and more
TikTok is increasing its investment in ecommerce. In partnership with Shopify, TikTok launched TikTok Shopping in the U.S. and U.K. earlier this year. Shopify merchants who have a TikTok Business account were able to add a Shopping tab on their TikTok profiles. They could also sync their product catalogues to the app, creating mini-storefronts. TikTok has announced a new list of brand partners for TikTok Shopping. These include Square, Ecwid, PrestaShop and OpenCart. Wix, SHOPLINE and OpenCart will be coming soon. The company also announced a wider range of solutions for TikTok commerce including ad products, and, later in the year, a TikTok eCommerce API.

Twitch adds phone-verified chat, expands email authentication settings as users face ‘hate raids’
Twitch today announced that it will introduce new channel-level security measures to curb harassment on the platform. Creators and moderators now have the ability to enable verified chat. This requires chatters verify their phone number and email before they can send messages. You can toggle these settings to allow verified chat for all accounts. These settings will automatically be disabled until the channel opts-in. There are also settings that allow VIPs, subscribers, and moderators to bypass verification. A user does not need to verify their email or phone number twice before being considered verified across all channels.
