lWith the South Carolina sun high in the sky, it’s always important to know a good place to go to cool off. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, water lover, or just looking for something to do in the era of COVID, I recently found just the spot. About a forty-five minute drive north of Columbia, the Rocky Creek Trail is a perfect day trip.
CubanI used to live in an apartment on a busy road in the middle of town. My neighbors were a weatherization building, car dealership, hairdresser, and an architect's office. There were perks to it though, namely a nice front porch which I filled with plants every summer. While my current residence is not permanent, I do have access to some land in which to test my green thumb.
This Saturday marks the 244th anniversary of our declaration of independence from England. In light of the protests still raging across our country, I thought I would put together an appropriate playlist for such a time that I hope captures the political mood of today while also hearkening back to some classic topics.
I got my hair cut yesterday. I know, “hold the phone, was it safe?” Seems like it. There were three employees and they wore masks. I was the only customer, also in a mask. The only issue was that some of my tiny hairs got in the mask and it was itchy… I know, end of the world stuff here. All in all, it was a positive experience and I recommend them if you’re in the Irmo, SC area. Hair One
As the country begins to open up, I’ve started to look back at these last few months and towards the future. Questions flood my mind: How safe it is? How often I will personally go out? What did I do these last few months? What do I do now?
I have had pets in my life since my earliest days, a lot of us have. Few children go through life without asking their parents for a dog (if they don’t already have one) and in my adult life, I remember the joy of picking up my new kitten from the SPCA. My Robby is with me right now, snoozing comfortably on his favorite ottoman across the room. Animal companions fill our lives with joy and comfort, especially in trying times such as these.
