"Rendered Himself Obnoxious" Is Impeachable?
Written throughout the Constitution of the United States are checks and balances on power between the three branches of government. In theory, this balance of power ensures that the country will remain stable and resist the threat of losing the freedom and democracy that many Americans cherish. The power of impeachment is one such check.

Breakfast in Savannah
I have previously gushed about my love of minivacations and, as luck would have it, I recently had the pleasure of taking one. We went to Savannah, Georgia, the Hostess City of the South. I had passed through on a couple occasions over the years, but this was my first full deep dive. I’d seen the beautiful oaks with the contrastingly beautiful Spanish moss hanging from its branches and the strikingly varied architecture, but I’d never had a chance to really appreciate it in all its grandeur.

Fun to Bring in 2021
Now, I know that the arbitrary tick of the clock that will change 2020 to 2021 will not solve all our problems. The emotional and financial devastation will have a lasting impact, but this can still be a cause for celebration. I don't know a single person who isn't ready to put 2020 behind them, so why not send it out doing something you love?

Write a Novel in a Month
I still remember when I first heard of this seemingly insurmountable task: write a novel in a month, but this is the goal given by National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). As it seemed so impossible, I pushed it from my mind and remembered it once more in October 2019, late October 2019. As I had decided to pick up my pen once more, I finally gave the impossible a looksey.

Ghost Stories
With Halloween right around the corner and my brain firmly sequestered in ancient China, I thought I should share some of the creepier folk tales. Below you will find my condensed versions of classic tales of ancient Chinese ghost stories. Enjoy!

Confucianism
Ancient China became the great behemoth of the east following the guidance of three ancient teachings: Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. Originally, I had planned to put all three into this article, but I realized that to get a true understanding of each, this would be far too long. Instead, each will get its own article and we shall begin with Confucianism. We will start our exploration of Confucius and the philosophy that he developed with some tales…

Where Do We Come From?
For those of you who do not know, I’ve always been fascinated by the east, particularly China and its culture. Back in college, I even took some Mandarin. While most of the language fell out of my head from lack of use, much of the rich culture that I learned about has remained. I recently delved into Chinese mythology once more and realized that these tales are not only incredibly fascinating, but they also can help us understand a culture that can seem incredibly foreign to our western sensibilities.

Folly Beach
As a Northerner, when I think of the beach in South Carolina, I think Myrtle Beach. I have fond memories from visits as a child and last November I took a morning walk on the beach before a I vended at the Mythical and Medieval Festival (I’m going again this year and I hope to see you there!). With the danger of COVID, I hadn’t visited any beach this summer. With summer quickly disappearing and kids in school, I headed to Folly Beach. Just outside of Charleston, this little town has lots to offer.

Fasting
For ages, people have restricted their diet in a variety of ways for various purposes. People fast for religious reasons (some Christians during lent, Muslims during Ramadan, etc.), political reasons (hunger strikes such as Mohandas Ghandi’s hunger strikes, the 1981 Northern Irish Hunger Strikes, etc.), and for medicinal benefits. While I could write expansively on all of these, instead I would like to talk to you about the growing evidence that intermittent and alternate day fasting promote weight loss, longevity, and a variety of other benefits.

The Evolution of Me
An old friend from high school recently friended me on Facebook and some of our reminisces made me reflect on my journey to the current iteration of me. The journey has been a wild one and I do truly like the woman who I have become. I hope you get some laughs from my missteps and commiserate with some of my growing pains

Beat the Heat with a Hike
lWith the South Carolina sun high in the sky, it’s always important to know a good place to go to cool off. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, water lover, or just looking for something to do in the era of COVID, I recently found just the spot. About a forty-five minute drive north of Columbia, the Rocky Creek Trail is a perfect day trip.
