Taliban Kill Islamic State Leader.
Who can ever forget the terrible scenes of people fighting to get on board Allied planes leaving Kabul Airport? Hordes of humanity fought to get aboard as the Americans, British, Germans, and others departed Afghanistan. Those lucky enough to board planes will have started new lives in other nations. Many were left behind while others found other ways of getting out.

Government Increasing The Retirement Age.
Human beings have worked since the moment our species began. Whether as hunter-gatherers or now, humans have always worked for a living. Now however human beings thanks to better health, better nutrition, better health care, etc, are living longer. Living longer does not mean, however, we will be illness free. This is clearly not the case and perhaps will never be. As research overcomes one illness there will be others. Indeed, some pathogens, viruses, etc, have developed systems to combat the drugs that control them. It is an arms race between humans on one side and viruses, bacteria, etc, on the other. Look at Covid, yes we have the vaccines and that has helped tremendously but it is still around and people are still falling ill. Only this time with the vaccine (and there are side effects) most people survive Covid now. There will always be pandemics and that is how the natural world functions (whether we humans like it or not).

Was Suella Braverman Correct in Calling British-Pakistani Men Perverts?
The last two Conservative Home Secretaries seem to have a knack of playing to the far-right gallery. This is either beause they believe in what they say totally or they are wanting to attract the far-right vote. With the local elections coming up next month and with a general election looming in 2024 the Tories are going to need all the votes they can muster.

Starmer Would Go Back to Blair Targets.
The National Health Service as envisaged and enacted by the Labour government of 1945 was a revolution. Free health care for all was the mantra of the new Labour government. The 1945 general election brought Labour to power after WWII because the people wanted something different.

Wes Streeting: Labour Attack Ads Justified.
Labour launched an attack ad saying the Prime Minister does not imprison child sex attackers. Many describe this ad as "gutter politics". Some described the ad as desperate. However, Sir Keir defended these ads saying they were justified.

North Korea Launches New Type of Missile.
North Korea is well known for its nuclear programme and test-firing missiles. The firing of these missiles usually ends with these missiles landing in the sea. And usually, everyone is on alert in the area but dismisses it as Kim Jong Un up to his old tricks again. From North Korea's point of view, it is about the survival of the regime. The Communist dictatorship has seen how easily Iraq and Libya fell to the Western powers. So North Korea's missile launches and nuclear programme is about putting off attacks by the West.

UK - US Relationship is Fine Apparently?
As Biden flew into Northern Ireland he had arranged to meet Rishi Sunak at a hotel in Belfast. The pair met over coffee and sat around a table. Earlier Sunak met the President as Airforce 1 touched down in Northern Ireland. Many noticed (including myself) how Sunak seemed almost irrelevant and struggled to get the attention of the President. As I wrote yesterday Sunak often seems like a lightweight when meeting people like Macron and Biden.

Sunak Meets Biden.
Why does Rishi Sunak (at least to me) always look like he is being dominated or manipulated by other world leaders? When he met Macron recently to hand over a load of cash (to stop migrants coming to Britain) Sunak looked like the weaker of the pair. Beyond all the back-patting, smiles, etc, it looked like Macron was the senior figure.

King Charles and His Coronation: So What?
Very shortly we will be witnessing the crowning of King Charles III presumably at Westminister Cathedral. Prince Charles became King Charles the moment his mother died. The crowning or coronation is simply a public spectacle to confirm this. The last coronation ceremony was in 1952 when Queen Elizabeth was crowned.
