Natalie
Just a teen with a dream of travelling and writing for the rest of my life (but if I'm being realistic, maybe just a few trips a year as a journalism teacher :))
You Don't Have To Clean Your House
I woke up earlier than most people on this Sunday morning. Around 12 pm, I headed to TJ Maxx to return a mattress pad. I bought a new blanket from Target. I got some food for me, my sister, and my aunt. I came back home and cleaned my truck for at least an hour. My energy was drained and I had plenty of time to relax.
For the TV Show Binger
The amount of TV shows available is astonishing. I could open Netflix or Hulu right now and there would be hundreds of options at my fingertips. This is the best part about technology, but also the most daunting.
Meet Vivien Thomas and the BT(T) Shunt
For a long time, black innovators, artists, and entrepreneurs have accomplished amazing feats, yet never get recognized for them. I'm sure you can guess why.
The Stars Aligned And They Were Correct (For the Most Part)
My middle school self was obsessed with astrology. As soon as I met someone and became acquaintances with them, I would ask them their zodiac sign just to see if they matched their given traits. Sadly, I have grown out of the astrology phase and have forgotten the basics of it. I can barely even remember my own traits for my zodiac.
Student-Athlete Privilege
Due to Covid-19, a lot of schools have gone completely virtual or hybrid. In my opinion, those are the best options for students to have in order to eliminate the chances of contracting Covid-19 and spreading it amongst their peers.
Should Students Have Jobs?
Working and having a job is something I am extremely familiar with. My family owns a small business in the city we live in, and ever since I was young, I have helped out there. Over the summer before my senior year started, I had another job at a lawn and gardening place near where I live. Although I don't work at the gardening place anymore, I still work at our business when I have the chance and I'm not busy with school.
An Influencer's Influence
If you spend a lot of time online, you've probably seen the new trend of influencers on the rise. Now, social media influencers have always been a thing. I remember when I was in middle school, there were a lot of influencers, mainly on Instagram and YouTube (and a little bit of Vine), that I looked up to and watched constantly. I remember sitting down after school, watching PewDiePie and Alisha Marie instead of finishing my math homework.
What I Have Learned From Covid
Covid-19 did not affect my life until March 13, 2020. That was our last day of school for the year and everyone was ecstatic about it. Even I was a little excited to not have to go to some classes every day.
