Something felt disconcertingly off that morning to Jezzy as she stared at the dark screen on her phone. The sky was bright and she listened the wind whistling between the snow laden branches and rustling trees for a long time before it finally hit her. Jezzy didn't normally notice outdoor sounds.

Tess stood in the rain on a simple, observation deck built into the side of the hill, barely minding the water drenching her seagreen robes and puddling at her feet. “You noticed this?” she asked, brushing a hand through her short-cropped hair and spraying the dragon next to her.

After Before
The sinking face of the house’s hollowed remains stared at me through its empty window frames, appearing resigned to its fate. Thick blankets of moss and foliage enveloped the structure as if the earth itself was slowly ingesting the old house’s skeleton. I doubt a single person has laid eyes on this place since its initial destruction… which was all the better for me.
