I Implore You: Don’t Escape The Matrix
There’s an increasingly popular belief that we’re living in a simulation. A belief that the 3D world of “reality” isn’t real at all. This belief isn’t exclusive to conspiracy theorists and the new age crowd. Some scientists are backing it.
Ashes to Ashes
I It was August of 2011. The deadly North American heat wave moved past the Appalachian region, but summer raged on. I drove a blue '79 Lincoln Continental, still a cherry. It'd been Suzanne's father's, and later Suzanne's when he died of black lung disease. Kathryn chain-smoked, puffing out the open window, her bare feet on the dashboard. Wind tousled her dark hair.
Make This Strawberry Dream Cake for Valentine’s Day
When I was a little girl, I loved Valentine’s Day. Both my mom and my grandma would give me beautiful heart-shaped boxes full of chocolates. These were the kind of boxes you could keep, covered in richly colored velvety fabric, lace, ribbons, or silk flowers. I looked forward to it.
10 Things I Did That Changed My Life
1. I learned to meditate in motion. When I was a kid, I used to pace the room and think out loud. I didn’t know this was strange until I was teased for it. As a teenager, I noticed I got all my most brilliant ideas when I was doing the dishes or dusting, which were my chores. It was like my conscious mind went on autopilot, and I entered a state of consciousness beyond it where everything made more sense. I was tapping into something profound.
2022 is Year of the Tiger
Time is cyclical, and Westerners revere the Sun. We follow a solar calendar with Earth’s 365 day revolution around the Sun marking one year. Earth’s rotation on her axis takes 24 hours to realign with her original position to the Sun, which we define as a day.
I’m a professional psychic, but I don’t predict the future. I read energy, and the energy centers known as chakras. People don’t have “good energy” or “bad energy.” Scientists define energy as the capacity to do work. I’m no scientist, but I believe doing work without significant meaning attached to it feels like being bedridden. Both are a suppression of energy.
