A Teacher's Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste
I am a teacher. That is no surprise to anyone who reads me. I love my job. That is not a surprise to anyone who knows me. What is a surprise is that even me, someone who loves their job, can need to take a step back for a mental health day.

When Will Police Reform Become a Federal Issue?
Ever since George Floyd in 2020, people have been getting out there and protesting police brutality. This has been an issue ever since I can remember, but in 2020, when we were all at home, living in this cell phone video everything society, we had no choice, but to watch the problematic system play out in front of our very eyes. Unfortunately with all of our protesting efforts, the narrative has changed, but not for the better.

Earl Moore Jr
Earl Moore Jr. died an hour after he was transported to the hospital. Now the paramedics who transported him are being charged with his murder and rightfully so. Police body cam footage shows the paramedics yelling at Earl saying, “We’re not going to pick you up. Get up! I’m too tired for this tonight.” Then the other paramedic pulled and pushed him onto the gurney faced down and strapped him in. Earl died of asphyxiation from being strapped down face down on the gurney. Earl was only 35 years old.

Is College Still Worth It In The United States?
I saw a news story recently that asked this question, and I have my own two cents to add. You would think that I, someone who is excited to tell everyone that I meet that I am a teacher, would say that college is totally worth it, right? Well, you would be wrong. College is not all it is cracked up to be for everyone. I would add on a "these days," but honestly, I never thought that it was.

The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker
Last night, I fought against my sleep, so that I could watch this eye opening documentary because it was a story I would not soon forget. I remembered how crazy Caleb "Kai" McGillvary's story was. I didn't personally love the documentary, but it could be that I was already tired when I watched it, so I might not have been in the right headspace for it. I would say, watch it yourself and form your own opinion. Try to watch it before Netflix takes it down because Kai is already complaining that they are exploiting him, and have not paid him for his life story adding to his already bizarre tale.

Parenting Through Social Media
The keyboard warriors are at it again. There was an ad on Facebook about the fact that social media is addictive to teenagers, so they were setting up something in order to sue, and the comment section was absolutely ridiculous as usual. The commentators were talking about how people are bad parents because they allow their children to be on social media, and it irritated my very core.

Rejection
I had to address it because it keeps coming up today, so this story was beating me across the head in other words. I am seeing this trend lately where once a woman rejects a man, he wants to make disparaging comments about her as though he wasn’t just interested two minutes ago. When did this start?

We Need to Talk About Cosby
I am almost ashamed to say that I was one of the victim blamers when it came to the Bill Cosby rape allegations. I feel like I am one of the people who constantly stands for women, but when it comes to a lot of our Black heroes, I have found a blind spot. Still, I went into watching We Need to Talk About Cosby with an open mind.
