Not Going Out
Introduction Yesterday was the first day in a very long time that I didn't leave my house. I always feel I need to get out to clear my head and just have a complete change of screnery, though I often walk through the same places, slightly worried that when I go somewhere new that someone will ask me what I am doing there and treat me like a burglar casing the joint.

Quietly Inspired
Introduction As I am writing this I am waiting for a work meeting. The room is quiet. Because of the impending meetin I have no music playing. Much of my job is creating systems and running jobs and waiting for them to produce their output and while that is going I can listen to music. The albums so far this morning (it is not yet nine o' clock) are Chiswick Chartbusters. "Sheer Heart Attack" by Queen and "Voyage" by Abba. The opening song on the latter inspired me to a villanelle, and I find listening to the whole album inspriational.

Brunch 23Top Story - March 2023
Yum Introduction A couple of weeks back I was walking into town over Nunsmoor and came out on Nunsmoor Road and noticed that what was once an excellent branch of Solomon's Dhaba was now a revamped "Brunch 23". My first thoughts were that it would be just another breakfast place, but I crossed over to check out the menu and was immediately intrigued by it. Now read on to find out why.

Raindogs, Frank's Wild Years and Swordfishtrombones - A Little of The Genius Of Tom Waits
Introduction I have a lot of CDs close to my desk when I work (my collection might be as high as five thousand) and some days I just pull one out without looking at what it is. Today I pulled out "Raindogs" by Tom Waits which was released in 1985 and was part of an Island Records trilogy that started with "Swordfishtrombones" (1983), continued with "Raindogs" and was completed with "Frank's Wild Years" in 1987.
