Brunch 23
Yum Introduction A couple of weeks back I was walking into town over Nunsmoor and came out on Nunsmoor Road and noticed that what was once an excellent branch of Solomon's Dhaba was now a revamped "Brunch 23". My first thoughts were that it would be just another breakfast place, but I crossed over to check out the menu and was immediately intrigued by it. Now read on to find out why.

Raindogs, Frank's Wild Years and Swordfishtrombones - A Little of The Genius Of Tom Waits
Introduction I have a lot of CDs close to my desk when I work (my collection might be as high as five thousand) and some days I just pull one out without looking at what it is. Today I pulled out "Raindogs" by Tom Waits which was released in 1985 and was part of an Island Records trilogy that started with "Swordfishtrombones" (1983), continued with "Raindogs" and was completed with "Frank's Wild Years" in 1987.

Vocal Top Creators
Introduction I actually take notice of Vocal Top Creators in the various communities. This is something that changes slowly in some instances and seems stagnant in others. This is is just a few thoughts on how it could be simply improved and possibly get engagement for people who are designated as a Top Creator.

The App
Statistics The average person with a smartphone has eighty apps on their device. Of these eighty apps, most smartphone owners use nine apps per day on average and thirty apps per month. So while new apps are not downloaded as often as they once were, the average user still has a decent number of apps already vying for their attention.

Observations On Vocal Notifications
Introduction I was not sure whether to put this together but think it is fine to do this now. Notifications of any type can sometimes be useful and sometimes be annoying. I find Facebook particularly awful, I will mark them as all read and then a few hours later they will all reappear in my feed.

Dr Hook and Shel Silverstein
Introduction In the seventies I was in a band called The Bok (that I have mentioned in other posts) and one day I went round to the band leader's house (Andy Marshall) and pulled out three albums wich really surprised me. This must have been 1975 or 1976 and my musical taste was still developing, and though Andy was a year older than me (I think) his tastes were more esoteric than mine on the time.

Toast
The Premise This is another experimental piece just based on the fact that the spoken phrase “Your Toast” can have a few totally different meanings. This piece is meant to illustrate a few of them. I hope it stimulates your grey cells. Shakespearean wordplay it isn’t.

Giving It All Away
Introduction I see lots of posts on Vocal and Medium on how to make lots of money in next to no time by various methods, and we would all like to stumble on a method where we could set something in motion where we do absolutely nothing apart from raking in the cash and having loads of money to spend. On an almost daily basis I am targetted by (usually "females" in bikinis about making a fortune in cryptocurrencies and forex if I just have a thousand dollars to give them) whichI block as soon as they contact me.

This Is Not A Limerick
Introduction Another protest at the flood of short-form poems. This is not a dig at the poems but a suggestion to Vocal who could limit the number of entries into a challenge for any kind of submission. I believe some creators see the short-form poems as a sort of free lottery ticket. They are quick to create and get published and surely if you enter a hundred into the challenge you stand a better chance of winning.
