2020, Chapter Two
As I’m writing this now, it is early December. Almost Christmas. One of my favorite movies to watch at this time of year is “A Christmas Story.” I’ve watched it every year at Christmas since 1991. Those of you who have watched it; you know how the story goes, so I’m not going to write out a detailed review. But towards the end of the movie, after the gifts have all been unwrapped and Ralphie narrowly avoids shooting his eye out with his newly acquired BB gun… they’re all getting ready to eat a home-cooked Christmas dinner when the narrator who tells Ralphie’s story delivers this line.

NFL 2020, Week 13
I’ve been an avid follower of the National Football League now for three decades (since 1990!) and one of my favorite pastimes has been predicting the winners of the games. I don’t take the Vegas point spreads into account when I do this; I simply pick the winner and the final score of each game. My success rate overall has been above average, between 60 and 70 percent, generally lower in the early weeks of the season but higher as November/December roll around and the playoffs loom on the horizon.

2020, Chapter One
We all have certain truths we take for granted. Truths we hold dear to, ironclad truths backed by sound logic and prior experiences. Truths we know we can always count on. If we’re honest with ourselves anyway, we all have these truths we cling to. These truths will never, and could not ever, fail us.
