Baker’s Dozen: Favorite 13 Eco-Friendly Product Swaps (2022)
I'll admit; in 2022, I didn't do as well as previous years in curbing my carbon footprint! It wasn't for a lack of trying, but rather just me saying, "I need to catch up". The thing about making eco-friendly choices is that, a lot of the time, it takes a great deal more time than just buying a commercially-produced product. Especially if, like me, you usually DIY and make homemade versions.

"Don't Go To The Cozy-Looking Cabin Next To The Top-Tier Scariest F*cking Woods Ever - Not Even For Free"
"We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin," began Samantha, "It was gorgeous. We were super excited to be there; it was supposed to be so much fun."

A Little Alone Time Together
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. A wave of relief washed over us as we approached the garage just down the hill from the cabin. By the last leg of our trip up the mountain, we were white-knuckling the steering wheel and "oh shit" bar, respectively. The winding roads were bad enough in good weather, and the weather was anything but good that evening, the snow falling quick and thick. I actually sighed with relief when David parked the car safely within the garage.

Living Stews and Tidal Hues
'Aquariums are just... living stews,' thinks Jason, watching the fish within the huge saltwater tank before him gather into a tight column. The action reminds him of the way a ladle stirs a stew pot, and the swirling liquid takes bits and pieces along for the ride. Except instead of a ladle spun by human hands, the vortex is a creation of the creatures themselves - their own movements. It is quite beautiful.

Year 2509
Can be read as a stand-alone or as a follow-up to, "Year 2507" and "Year 2508". Neuro stares at the heart-shaped locket, long thought to be lost forever. When she tossed it down a hallway as a distraction to reach her bunker two years prior, she never thought she'd see it again. And then a year ago, roughly, she stumbled upon it on a table in another nearby bunker she was raiding for supplies - along with Synapse, who she had also never thought to see again. The man had been sleeping, and her raiding required her stealth, and so she had reaped his rewards and her lost locket and fled back inside her bunker, where she has stayed another year. Roughly.

The Tales of Seven Dragons
It is bright and early when the older village children gather excitedly in the town square, clutching each a small coin and bit of bread, their deafening chatter drawing curious looks from some of the elders. Other adults know why the children are so riled up, and smirking to the rest explain: the local storyteller has promised to tell the children some new tales now that those going are old enough to hear them. Tales of some of the most amazing - and terrifying - creatures; dragons.

The First Mermaid
It was too late when the sea dragon came upon the child. There were no survivors left in the wreckage of the ship; just the floating dead. Even the child had succumbed, barely old enough to walk. Not that walking would have helped it during the sinking of the ship.

Coin Keeper's Investment
Coin Keeper awoke to a piercing wail. The complete darkness of the night confused and disoriented the dragon, mind heavy with an extended sleep. A glance outside of his cave raised more confusion; it was snowing heavily. He should have still been deep in hibernation, conserving his energy. As he struggled to understand why he was awake, another shrill cry rang out.

The Dragon's Name Was Death
Winter hadn't set in fully yet when one of the great dragons of the woods began roaming the forest for prey. One of the largest seen in the region, it moved mysteriously and fluidly, akin to liquid shadows. Its movements were near-silent, and its sudden presence beside them caused many an animal to spook and flee with urgency.
