The Season of the Twins
The Twin sign, Geminis have a tendency to switch between passions, hobbies and styles. They are consistent in their inconsistencies. They are a perfect blend of book smarts and creativity. They are social butterflies, but they also need their alone time. Just like the ever evolving Gemini, Spring is turning to Summer, and it’s time for you, Gemini, to shine!

The Unexpected Gift
When I was born, my parents got way more than they expected. It was the mid-70s, before sonograms were widely used. They had little idea of what was to come. I was born with a birth defect, Spina Bifida. The defect would affect my ability to walk for the rest of my life, but when I arrived, my mom and dad did not know how serious my disability was. The doctors told them I would never walk and most likely have a severe intellectual disability. They placed me on a ventilator, and the doctor advised my parents to “pull the plug”. My mother would not accept that. This is the first of many times, in my life, she would not accept the status quo.

The Toronto IncidentSecond Place in (No) Regrets Challenge
Memory is a funny thing. It defines so much of our lives. We can remember exactly where we were during historic events like September 11th. Little things, like when we forgot our lines in the third grade play, are also locked away forever in our minds.

Maps Hold A World of Memories
No one uses maps anymore. Sure, they use GPS on their phone or ask Alexa but, I’m talking about an old school paper map. One you picked up at a rundown gas station in the middle of nowhere. When you were completely lost and had no other option. Or one you found crumpled at the back of the glove compartment while cleaning out your car at the car wash.

The Mandalorian Connection
I’m an 80s kid and grew up a huge fan of Star Wars. So, when Disney announced it was developing The Mandalorian, I was ecstatic. For those not in the know, The Mandalorian is a Disney+ series that premiered in 2019. It was created and directed by Jon Favreau and stars Pedro Pascal.

In the Shadows
One year ago, my world completely changed. On March 13th, 2020, I left my job for what would be the last time. I was informed that I was furloughed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I was told my furlough would hopefully only be about six weeks. Six weeks turned into six months. Six months turned into a year. I know this is a common story. I know I’m not alone. What makes my story different is that I am unemployed and disabled.

Celebrating Staten IslandTop Story - March 2021
New York City. The Big Apple. When most people speak of New York City, they are often talking about Manhattan. Home of the Empire State Building, Times Square and The Statue of Liberty. But actually, New York City consists of five boroughs. These include Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and my home town, Staten Island.

Art in the Suburbs
Staten Island, New York is a short ferry ride from the fast paced world of New York City, but it seems like a world away. It's known for being the hometown of one of the Jersey Shore cast members. It's not exactly known as a cultural Mecca. Despite this reputation, there are small pockets of the island where the arts thrive. One of these places is very dear to my heart.
