The Eye of Goddah
[Author’s Note] Before this challenge was announced I was already keeping a record of some very strange dreams I had experienced over the course of many weeks. I then compiled them into what turned out to be quite an odd yarn. It is composed of scribbles on scraps of paper, convoluted evocations, and notes on my phone from midnight memories after waking. The names of the characters are ridiculous but I stuck with them nonetheless, many of the details appear somewhat nonsensical, and the plot feels to me like the culmination of a thousand diegesis that live rent-free inside my head. So now, thanks to this challenge, I have taken my story and turned it into a poem. Enjoy.

The Dark Corner of a Pentimento
The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. The sun was rising as she entered, and he was already out of bed and in his wheelchair, positioned in exactly the same spot as the day before, and the day before that.

A Frame of Avarice
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. My eyes were glued to the twisting path in front of me, but my mind was a hundred miles away. I felt my wife gently put a hand on my thigh, and I turned to her. She was giving me a knowing look, one that I had seen many, many times before.

Pumpkin Swirls
[Author’s Note] This story is for a non-fiction challenge. While some may consider this story to be fiction, I dispute those claims by stating that I have recalled this story by memory and chosen to elaborate some details that otherwise would have been incomplete and/or vague. Take it for what it is but remember this, the truth should never get in the way of a good story.
