Baseball, murder and an act of bravery
On April 7, 2022, Major League Baseball's latest season began. The season started without any problems since there was no lockout. Despite the long season, most teams already have high hopes of making it to the World Series. Since baseball has begun, I'd like to share a story about Clifford Wesley Latimer (aka Tacks), a former major leaguer from Loveland, Ohio, who was born on November 30, 1877.

The unsolved murder of Nancy Theobald
One of Cincinnati's most troubling homicides involved the murder of a brilliant 18-year-old University of Cincinnati student named Nancy Theobald. While attending college, Nancy worked at an Arby's restaurant that once stood on 263 Calhoun Street in Cincinnati. On November 16, 1977, Nancy finished her shift and left before 11p.m. She didn't drive and lived in a nearby apartment at 2971 Deckebach Avenue in Cincinnati with her brother and sister. On occasion, she would call her brother for a ride home.

How DNA solved the Michelle Martinko cold case
Over the years, I had seen the photograph of an attractive 18-year-old named Michelle Marie Martinko. She looked like a neighbor or someone you could call your daughter. She could have headlined a story about a local girl who received a scholarship or had received an award for her charity work.

The unsolved murder of Dayton police officer Kevin Brame
The Ohio Attorney General's website has over 2,000 images of murdered men and women who still need justice. In previous columns, I have discussed different people I have found on this site. Many of these cases have been long forgotten by the public and the media. Many have fallen by the wayside to make room for the latest unsolved homicides.

The Wall
I have closely followed Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Silently, I have wondered if this invasion will lead to the next world war. However, I am impressed by the sense of patriotism I'm witnessing. Ukrainians have returned home to defend their country. It would take a great deal of courage for someone to leave a safe home and give your life for your fellow countryman.

The eerie Gurdon light
Despite our best efforts, there are many mysteries in life that are beyond our grasp. One of these fascinating mysteries comes to us from Gurdon, Arkansas. Gurdon is a small city that was founded in 1819 by Captain Robert Tate and his family members.

Finding Andrea
Do you have siblings? There is a good chance you do. In fact, I have two younger brothers living in Indiana. Although I don't see them frequently, I love them both just the same. On Facebook I saw a meme that described siblings perfectly. The meme mentioned how siblings will argue over everything during childhood. However, as adults, they realize their siblings aren't so terrible.

The abduction of Jessica Gutierrez
Once all the doors and windows at home are locked, most of us feel secure at home. Call me paranoid, but before I go to sleep, I always double check my doors. If you have a security system, that provides even more security. Many years ago, I saw a story about a child abduction from out of Lexington, South Carolina. Honestly, I never thought anyone would be arrested for it. While looking through various articles, I learned a suspect was finally arrested almost 40 years after the abduction.

Whatever happened to musician Jim Sullivan?
Jim Sullivan was a musician with a large mustache. And it's no surprise that you probably don't know anything about him. Having listened to numerous blues groups, he became infatuated with music. He was a family man. He was married and followed his guitar wherever it led. In 1968, he relocated himself and his family to Los Angeles.

The wrath of the ice queen
Motherhood is something that many women look forward to. But how far would you go to become a mother? And what would you do if you wanted to become a mother and your significant other didn’t share your desire? Estibaliz Carranza wanted to have a child more than anything else in her life. And she certainly wouldn’t let a man stand in her way.

The Ouija board murder
You will probably get many responses if you ask anyone what they think about Ouija boards. Ouija boards are said to be a way for people to communicate with the dead. By placing your hands on a planchette, you ask a question and wait for spirit guidance to move the planchette along the board.
