Now Muses are formed not conceived. So back when creators were cultured and appreciative, full Muse families were formed. A full Muse family consisted of a mother figure contrasted in color by a father figure and two pre-muses who started life at seven years of age. Sometimes the pre-muses were contrasting, but more often than not, they were twins. In the rare instances of early summers, figures were not given pre-muses immediately. They would have to wait until the spring blossoms and the music reappeared. Sometimes spring season would be overcast, so the sunshine and the butterflies were few and far between. And sometimes, other Havens needed Muses, such as Havenchord; where the Muses of Lyrics and Instruments lived, because technology took all the musicians away. All three catalysts were the reasons that Jean and Galatea were not given a pre-muse, well that and the fact that Galatea was a sculptor and Jean was a painter and they were too busy making the world over and above Havenstroke majestically delightful. So God gave them Rima, a poetic Muse.

Despite popular belief, Muses do not flitter about whispering all willy-nilly into arbitrary ears of random creators. If they were to do so Muses would be at risk for wasting the knowledge they obtained on creators who were not inspirable. Inspirable creators are separated into different categories according to the blaze they emit from their inner energy. Only Muses (and some clairvoyant creators) can view and discern the types of blazes that are emitted around the creator’s body like a halo. The warmer the blaze the purer and more receptive the creator is to the inspiration of the Muse. These creators revel in the sheer joy of the art, live for the art and would never taint the art for any reason. The highest blaze is the golden blaze followed by the orange and then the yellow. The blaze only fades when hope dissipates.

Lia put her pencil down on the desk part of the chair desk and glanced over her right shoulder out the window. She was thankful that her professor cracked the window because she was able to smell the spring air creep in through the holes of the dark, wire window screen. The springtime air always contrasted with the view of the dilapidated inner-city neighborhood: the cold sterile gray-blue bridge, the partially condemned houses, the litter strewn street. The flower lined sidewalks of the university provided the city with its own personal oasis but the inhabitants of the city resented it and the students of the university, well most of them, took it for granted.
