I try to live my life in a way where if people know me but don't know God will come to know God because they know me.
The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon
Has this ever happened to you? You see something 1 time then all of a sudden you see it again somewhere you wouldn't expect. Then again and again until you start to question yourself asking "Is this divine intervention?" or saying something like "huh, what a coincidence I just saw this not too long ago." If yes, then you have experienced The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon.
Someone in the trenches
YOU CAN BE A SUPERHERO! This may be a lengthy read but I promise you it is worth it! In the spirit of Black Awareness Month, I want to shine the spotlight on Denzel Washington and pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman The Black Panther. However, for this story to fully sink in, I want to set the stage by sharing a short analogy.
Short story compilation
Look at that picture... ...what do you see? I straight up see death! Haha okay, I may be a little bit overdramatic. The picture is actually pretty nice. I love the beauty of the earth and the perfect camera shot of this wave, it's satisfying and majestic. Have you ever ridden one? It's really fun! The breeze of the wind feels liberating as it pushes you back while the wave is moving you forward. I don't want to bag on something so serene. But I do want to raise a concern by sharing 3 stories that will help me convey a gentle warning for anybody planning to go to the beach.
5 Things I learned from reading 1 book a week. (Part 1)
Oh, how the tables have turned. There was a time when I wouldn't pick up a book to save my life; way back when the only thing that mattered in the world was sports, food, and sleep. Nowadays, my focus has shifted towards reading 1 book a week! Granted, it's only been 2 months since I made this goal so I haven't much to say about the long-term results thus far. Nonetheless, I have been able to learn a few things that have given me leverage in life in a variety of ways!
How to DOMINATE your new year's resolutions
Between the years 2015- 18, I had a lofty goal to lift x amount of weight before I graduated high school. I went from scrawny weakling to the "walking muscle" as my little brother liked to call me. In September 2018, I was a 155-pound athlete able to box squat 500lbs. That's 3.23 times my weight! I still remember that experience with precise detail. It's true what they say: "Champions are made when no one is watching."
The story you are about to read is about the time I put a baby chick in a microwave. I acknowledge that it wasn't the best thing to do but there is more to the story than you think. Before you jump to any conclusions grant me an opportunity to explain myself.
Discouragement. It is the thing that will make you feel as useless as the letter U in the word "guitar." Regardless of the word, the letter is still important; U are still important. As you go to and fro you will come across opposition which will deliver heavy blows verbally, physically, emotionally, or conscious/unconsciously that will make it seem like U aren't. Perhaps you are tough enough to take a few hits, after all, we are a strong species. Sooner or later, however, there will come a time where a cry for help will be greatly needed; there is nothing wrong with accepting assistance here and there.
dreamer vs. DREAMER!
A quick thing about me will help me convey the message for today; I tend to eavesdrop on conversations I have no business being a part of. What can I say, I just love a good story! Whenever I walk to my next destination I always keep an ear out for any information I could potentially use. Not in a blackmail/gossip sort of way, but in an honest search for key phrases for me to bring up for someone else's benefit at some future time. You may think that's weird; low key I agree with you. I simply can't help it. I have found this little habit to be useful in such big ways!
