Removing Snow
Whether you love it or hate it, eventually you’ll need to remove snow from your walks and driveways. We’ve been doing this every winter for the last 6,000 years when the first snow shovel was created in Russia. Every year, the US is affected by 105 snowstorms that can last 2-5 days each. Snow is when water freezes in the cloud and returns to Earth frozen. This means in order for the snow to build up, the ground needs to be frozen to hold it for at least a couple of days. Winter can last from December to late March each year, sometimes longer. When you are ready to confront the cold, here are some tips you can use to remove snow safely.

Going Shoe Shopping
Shoes are important. They not only protect your feet from injury, but they can also provide you with comfort and support. A shoe is an outer covering for your foot that usually has a sole, heel, and upper part made of a lighter material. On average, Americans will spend $240 each year on this type of footwear. Roughly, that means each person in the country owns four pairs of shoes. In a disaster situation, boots will be the ideal footwear. This is because they can provide your foot with better protection than sneakers can. Here are some tips for buying your first pair of boots.

Important Gun Groups
America loves its guns! Firearms and the USA go hand in hand. 32% of the US population owns at least one firearm, while 10% live in a home with one they don’t own. This causes 6 million firearms to be purchased each year. About three-quarters of gun owners (or 72%) have gotten one for personal protection. People who own a gun, or know of one in the house, tend to have more positive feelings towards them being there. They feel more secure and relaxed. Recently, the country has become divided on whether the Second Amendment should be stricter. These are the groups fighting to prevent these strict laws from happening so that everyone can enjoy the Second Amendment.

Organizing Your Preps
Organizing your preps is very important. Being organized helps in both the short- and long term. By keeping things in order, you can ensure that it will be ready to go when disaster strikes. It can help you save money in the long run by preventing you from overbuying or having your products go bad on you before you can use them. In a crisis, minutes matter, and you don’t want to waste them looking for your supplies. Being disorganized can cause unnecessary stress while attracting dust, mold, and pests. January is National Get Organized (or GO) Month, so here are some easy tips and tricks you can use on your preps for optimum efficiency.

Boo Hoo!
Today is Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year. All that holiday overeating finally caught up to your waistline. The December credit bill has arrived in bright red. It’s time to start getting ready for the upcoming tax season. You’ve realized your New Year’s Resolutions aren’t working out as well as you hoped, and when you look outside, it’s dark and gloomy. No wonder things are depressing. Blue Monday was first published in 2005 by Sky Travel when they noticed their passengers looked sadder than usual. After doing some calculations, they figured out people were most depressed on the third Monday in January, thus creating Blue Monday to raise awareness for this sad time of the year. Instead of being sad, here are some ways in which you can make today a little brighter.

Merry Christmas
Tis' the season to be jolly. Nothing quite makes the holiday season better than gathering around with loved ones over good food and great cheer. Just thinking about the holiday brings back memories of gathering around my grandma’s piano and singing carols until the sunset. Listening to the kids squeal with joy in the morning seeing the presents Santa gave you. Once the holidays are over and the food starts digesting in your stomach you might want to look over these after-Christmas sales to see what you can use to give yourself a prepping edge.

Winter Is Here
A blizzard is a severe snowstorm that lasts 3-4 hours, produces large amounts of snow, below-freezing temperatures, and winds over 35 MPH. The combination of the blowing snow from the hard winds creates low visibility, making dangerous, difficult road conditions. The low temperatures put people at risk of freezing to death. On average, the US will experience 19 blizzards a year. Meteorologists can predict one as it is forming days in advance by looking at the atmospheric conditions of the area. Here are some tips if you find out one is coming your way.

Deck The Halls
Nothing says Christmas is quite like carols. Caroling has been around since the 19th century as a way for people to celebrate the Christmas season. It is an oral tradition passed down from generation to generation. Carols, a religious folk song or popular hymn, were first written in Latin in the 4th or 5th century, many of which we still sing today. Even though caroling is declining in interest, it still maintains a strong cult following. People who enjoy the art of caroling want to continue the craft but are unsure how to get started. Here is how to do that.

Tying Your Way To Survival
Knot tying is a vital survival skill. A knot is a fixed looping of a piece of string or rope. Though they are often made from rope, they can really be made from any type of cordage. Anyone over the age of five years old has the ability to make knots. Some are used to bind objects together, while others can be used to constrict things. In some cases, they serve as a stopper or knob at the end of the cordage to keep the ends from slipping. Here is how to make the six most popular knots.
