Payne of the Bite (Ch.9)
Kasey - Between that memory and memories of winning countless sporting championships in archery later in life was something Kasey reminisced on the most. To Kasey, they were memorable moments of her winning days. Trying to find a happy place among the hysteria, all Kasey could picture in her silence was the arrow flying directly in the center of her bullseye target sheet. A route to an exit began forming in Kasey's mind in the worst-case scenario where anything dangerous was to occur. The college dropout had heard reports months ago about nuclear plants shutting down all over Northern and Southern Carolina. There had been a lot more going on in those atomic plants than the shuttle leak that was described on the emergency news broadcast -- when a political statement was given out by the governors of Northern and Southern Carolina. These were the same governors who tried to reassure the rebelling citizens from rioting and attempting to stop these scientific cargo trains from reaching their destination months ago. Hopefully, when things quieted down, Kasey could get some practice in before going to her destination at the Mercy Hospital to visit her dying grandmother in the upstate North Carolina city.
Payne of the Bite Saga (Pt.8)
Frankie Delimo - Seeking revenge for the loved ones lost in the Twin Towers, Frankie finished his tour of duty in Iraq with over a dozen badges of honor, with many enemies dealt with -- during that time. The post-traumatic stress Frankie Delimo suffered during the War on Terror was incomparable to the pain felt when another family member was lost in a violent act of racism a few months after returning home from Iraq. For it had been Frankie's sister, named Beth, whose sudden and tragic death caused a central downward spiral in the mind of Frankie. Local news states it was a Molotov that was thrown at Frankie's sister's car by a group of radical skinhead Nazi that destroyed the vehicle she was in. Beth also worked in the same firefighting station as Frankie initially. They were wanting to follow in her older brother's footsteps of changing their family profession. Both siblings came from a family of privileged medical background. A bright future was thought to be at stake for the end of both Frankie and Beth growing up. But the news of the tragic loss became a stain in Frankie's heart and snapped him out of his reminiscing.
The Dummies Tale: by LUiS Thompson
Log Line: “An aspiring comedian in Gothic City named Arthur Mitchell is haunted by a Ventriloquist Dummies past.” Dramatic Question:
With the third entry in the series being released only one year shy of a decade from its previous entry; it's time to look back at the game that started up the entire franchise itself. In Crackdown, you are no longer a regular video game consumer entering another sandbox experience. You are instead a dangerous superhuman vessel for the Agency, a shadowy corporation whose sole intent is to bring peace and protection to the citizens of Starlight City by any means necessary. Picking up the controller for the first time as a teenager back in 2007 felt remotely the same in 2020. This is a franchise that has quietly endured many setbacks and releases day pushbacks and has continued to push the envelope as to what creative opportunities can be possible in a good cop bad cop setting. The timeless aesthetic of Crackdown is very simple at first. The ability to gather skill points through everyday actions as a Crackdown agent such as reckless driving, laser beam accurate headshots and the superman - like strength to take out opposing gang leaders with deadly head kick molding your character to your playstyle is what has made Crackdown a true Xbox 360 original classic.
Dead by Daylight
Where many game developers in the past have given their best attempt at bridging the gap between horror movie fiction, paired with online multiplayer none have accomplished this task better than the creators of Dead by Daylight. With an in a game world where the darkness can become an enemy or an ally, the developers of Dead by Daylight is letting their players choose what side of the chessboard they want to play on. As a survivor, you are grouped with three fellow members who are also seeking refuge and freedom from the darkness and its entity it now has dominion over in this shadow-like realm. In Dead by Daylight, those who side with the darkness are allowed access to numerous killers with awesome abilities that are inspired by some of the Icons of Horror themselves such as Freddy Kruger, Leatherface, Michael Myers, and even the Demogorgon. As the killers, the primary objective is simple, hunt and capture the four survivors as quickly as you can while the four survivors hide and work together to fix up enough electric-powered generators to open the exits in each map. Whether a killer or a survivor the ability to upgrade and customize your character to your liking is also available. And while micro transactional purchases can still up the anté as to what cosmetics your character may feature none of that takes away from the fact that the only way to get better skills for your character tree is by doing the work and managing your blood point currency during your play-through.
Gears of War: Judgement Day
Set fifteen years before the events of the first Gears of War "Judgement Day" is the purest first-hand experience at some of the turmoil taking place while Marcus Fenix was behind bars elsewhere. Having been captured and held for questioning you as the player are tasked with reliving the memories of four COG soldiers, two of which, being Cole and Baird, are household names in the Gears of War franchise. While few gamers may dismiss "Judgement Day" as a reskinned version of Gears of War, what gamers will get in return is a deep look at the events surrounding Gears of War 3 and what the end of the Pendulum Wars looked like right after the Locust army arrived. For the casual gamer, the mythology of the franchise may not play any significance to the player however, those who have been heavily invested in the lore of the game since the mid-2000s would greatly appreciate the journey. The hidden Easter egg at the end of the game's spin-off mode named “Aftermath” actually ties into the Gears of War 3 game. With Gears of War being a dominant gaming franchise for almost two decades now one would think the story behind such a popular brand would run out of aesthetic and momentum. However, what "Judgement Day" gets right is the world-building that slowly burns for years to come and bridges the gap in the world of Gears of War. While most spinoff games get lost in the hype of their cash grab micro transactional greed, "Judgement Day" only demands the classical blood, sweat, and tears of gaming progression to succeed further in the cosmetic ladder of the game itself.
