A study abroad like no other.
My passion for traveling. Traveling has been a passion since I was a little kid. I have always wanted to go see everywhere and do everything this world has to offer. There are so many incredible countries and cities in this world. I was determined to see them all.

Stuck in my career.
I never wanted my Doctorate degree. Growing up I was never that person who said they wanted to go for their PhD. It was engrained in me that I would go for my Bachelors, that I had no choice in. But I never wanted to go beyond undergrad school; I was always that person who said I am done with school after my Bachelors. I had gone straight to undergrad after HS and it was exhausting. I really thought I would be able to use my degree and start my career but that turned out to not be the case. It was not that I had a degree I could not use but that no one would give me the chance to gain experience. I wanted my career so badly I decided to go back for my master’s to hopefully gain some notice and break into my field. If you can’t do go back to school.

My road to my Doctorate.
Starting my Doctorate program. I got accepted into my program in the summer of 2017 and was so terrified I put it off until January 2018. I was still nervous to start when the day came but I was determined. It was not an easy start though. My school started us out with an intro class and a regular full credit class. I had the best professors, but it was a time to learn and get used to the program. I needed to learn to write at that level and the classes were only seven weeks long; things moved fast. If you are not disciplined and on top of things you can get left behind or lost very easily. I set reminders for myself of when I would complete assignments and really stuck to it. Having that discipline was a true-life saver in this program. I ended up with an A in one class and 89.5 not rounded up but a B+ in the second. I was not happy with the B+ but it ended up being one of only two that I received in the entire program.

Giving back to our troops
Volunteering has been a way of life for me since I was young. I have always donated clothes or when I was younger toys. I think this idea of giving back just kind of stuck with me. Ive done different kinds of volunteer work over the years. Then in 2019 I felt like it had been long enough, about a year in a half since I had last done any kind of volunteer work. I had seen a commercial about the nonprofit Wounded Soldiers and decided to go do some research to see if I can give back with them. In doing this I found Soldiers Angels.

Volunteering with Special Olympics
Volunteering with Special Olympics has always been something in the back of my mind to try. I have never been an athletic or competitive person so I never really thought that I would find a sport that I could volunteer with. Not everyone believes it is a sport, but bowling is the only thing I have skill in and enjoy doing. I began volunteering as a bowling coach when I was a teenager, and I am glad to have had that experience. It came into good use when I decided I would start to volunteer with special Olympics.
