My name is Lindsay and I have always loved writing. My favorite things to write are feel good stories and anything with animals. Thanks for reading!
Losing a Best Friend
A friendship is different from a romantic relationship, but perhaps it is just as important, if not more so. A best friend is someone who you can bare your soul to, someone who gets you, and doesn't judge what they know. A friendship break up is one of the most painful losses a person can go through. Losing a person that you shared so much of your life with can be just as painful as a breakup with a significant other. It’s especially painful when you aren’t sure what happened to cause it to end.
My Obsession with Dachshunds
For as long as I can remember (around the age of two, to be exact) my family has included a smart, sassy, stubby-legged dachshund. With a bark loud enough to match its boisterous personality, the dachshund is truthfully one of a kind. Originally bred for hunting badgers, they really live up to their reputation of being fearless. They are strong willed and loving animals, and for the people that get to be in their lives, there is nothing better.
Things I Wish I Could Tell My Younger Self
I know for most people, they experience it at least once in their lives, "If I could only tell myself then, what I know now." This is an interesting concept. I know that there are certainly life lessons that I learned along the way that I wish I could've warned myself about. Whether it has to do with love, adulthood, or just making things easier on myself. Below are some things I really wish I could go back and tell myself.
Battle With Infertility
Most people who decide that they want children have sex and get pregnant. However, it isn't that easy for some. Some women and men are diagnosed with infertilty and face a difficult journey to parenthood. It may involve invasive tests, painful procedures, and medications that take a toll on the mind, body, and spirit.
Route 202. That’s where my life changed. Who would have thought that visiting this dusky little piano bar would change my life; who I am, and who I would be. The night she appeared is one I often go back to. One that made me wonder about chance and circumstance. I’ll never forget it for the rest of my days.
Words of Encouragement
Sometimes the smallest gesture really resonates with someone. Years ago I met a person by the name of Nathan. I'll never forget him for as long as I live. He truly changed my life.
His Name Is Frank
Frank is a rather long fellow, with stumpy legs and medium length mahogany and snowy white fur. His ear fur is trimmed straight across, reminding one of a bowl cut your mom used to give you before you had a say in what was cool. The hair on top of his head flows freely, not unlike the wisps you would find atop Bernie Sander’s head on a windy day. At 13 years old, this charismatic dachshund -who is almost completely blind and deaf- lets nothing slow him down.
What Comes After
Ozzy opened his eyes, squinting in the bright light. "Where am I?" He spoke. "You're in the best place ever." Ozzy immediately remembered the voice from his younger days. "Daisy?" He questioned. It looked like her, but younger, stronger. But how could that be? He hadn't heard her voice in such a long time.
