1917 REVIEW
I don't really watch trailers, anymore, if I can help it. I find trailers can often contain plot spoilers, or ruin emotional beats by re-contextualising them in a way that more says "buy tickets for this movie" than whatever it was meant. The logical extreme for this is the trailer for Broken City, a movie which literally has the final scene in the movie a prevalent part of the trailer. Honestly, I wish more companies would adopt the Endgame style of trailers, wherein it literally shows the first 5 or 10 minutes of the movie, tops.

'Sorry to Bother You' Review
I saw this film on Monday, and am currently sat—exactly 48 hours after the screening, still trying to decide if I like it. This is a first for me. This is the first time in years I’ve stepped out of a film, being really unsure as to whether or not I liked it. So, I’m gonna put the beef of the film up front, and talk spoiler stuff after the important stuff. One, because this film intentionally hides a lot of what it’s about in the trailer and two, because you wouldn’t believe me if I told you the shit this movie does. So, let’s talk technical stuff, first.

'Mary Poppins Returns' ReviewTop Story - January 2019
Mary Poppins Returns is a weird movie. But not necessarily weird, in terms of what happens in it—if you’re watching a sequel to Mary Poppins not expecting a few weird set pieces, you’re watching for the wrong reasons. But weird in the sense that... I’m not entirely sure if it’s a good film. It’s certainly engaging enough, and it has a few cards up its sleeve, but generally, I’m not sure if it was the right movie for me to review.

'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' ReviewTop Story - January 2019
Alright, let’s start 2019 as we mean to go on—let’s talk about movies more regularly, now! I just got back from seeing a couple of movies today and, as some of you requested, I figured I might as well start making proper reviews, now! So, for this episode, let’s talk about a film I now wish I’d got to see earlier; Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. I hadn’t heard a bad word said about this film before I saw it, so this film definitely had high expectations to fill and, for the most part, Spider-verse excelled.

2018 Movies From Worst to Best
So, this year, instead of doing tissue-thin top and bottom lists of films I saw this year, I decided to just make one long list with every film I saw that was released in 2018. Incidentally, if you don’t see a film on this list, it’ll be because I didn’t see it… obviously. I’m honestly kinda surprised at how many films I saw this year, given that I was both dirt poor and offensively busy with graduating and then immediately jumping back into higher education. Some of these films, I actually have very little to say regarding… but, hey, we’ll roll with it.

'Two Point Hospital' - The Most Important Game of 2018?
Theme Hospital was one of my favourite games growing up. The clever, witty humour coupled with a comprehensive and engaging strategy and simulation gameplay system cemented it as a fantastic experience for me and, along with Theme Park World, cemented Bullfrog as one of my favourite developers of all time.

Fixing Myself #2: Relationships
This is a tough one for me. I mean, it's all tough for me, but at least I know I'm not sharing too much information for myself. I've now set myself the challenge of discussing relationships, in regard to my mental health, without potentially sharing too much about my relationship history and the people involved.

'Hitman 2's' Potential to Change the Industry
Hitman was a sleeper hit from 2016, but it's not a surprise it flew under the radar. In truth, I don't think I've ever played a game which is this good, with a publisher so determined to ruin it. It seems clear that with Square Enix constantly changing the release plans for the game, to giving the game basically no exposure when it was releasing (hell, I'm a fan of the series and I literally forgot the game was coming out until the game went on sale after all the episodes came out), Square Enix seemed almost dedicated to undermining what is otherwise a rather excellent game. Jim Sterling has a video discussing this here, but now, the tides have changed.

Fixing Myself #1: Intro
In the interest of trying to look after myself and have an open conversation about life, mental health and everything else, I've decided to also dedicate part of this Vocal account to talking about my experiences as a young man coping with anxiety and depression, among being autistic. I know, right? What a delightful cocktail.

The Trouble with Telltale
Picture this: It's March 2011. You're a young, bright-eyed gamer, and you see two episodes of a game based on one of your favourite movies of all time, Back to the Future. You convince your mum to finally give her debit card details to the scary black rectangle under the TV and, within minutes, you're playing your first ever Telltale game.

Kicking Up a Fuss Works
So, the first thing I posted on this website has been rendered somewhat redundant less than a week after I posted it. Good, that'll show my worth as a freelance writer. Regardless, I'm honestly over the moon that Toys for Bob delayed Spyro: Reignited Trilogy by about a month and a half, with the game now seeing a November 13 release.

Why Buy an Xbox One in 2018?
I recently upgraded my graphics card in my PC. I figured it needed an update from the trusty GTX 750 Ti I'd been using for years. So now, I'm officially a member of current gen graphics, even if it's the lowest end of modern graphics with the 1050 Ti. As I was playing Killer Instinct, an absolutely fantastic fighting game which was originally an Xbox One exclusive, it suddenly dawned on me that there wasn't really a reason to play the Xbox One that was nestled away in my brother's bedroom.
