The final instalment of the Skywalker saga, ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ was released for home viewing on #MaytheFourth and with it comes a whole new set of questions and critiques of the film. The film is far from perfect and has numerous editing and story issues, but it brings the new trilogy to a satisfying and hopeful conclusion. Whatever your own feelings about the film, we all walked away with several questions about some of the plot threads and character arcs.
The world is getting ready for another adventure from our favourite galaxy in the universe. Solo: A Star Wars Story is the latest in the spin-off anthology film series, following the escapades of a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover). Production of the film has been rife with turmoil, but in the competent hands of Oscar-winning director Ron Howard, we can hope for something spectacular.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that ‘Batman & Robin’ is the worst film ever made. It’s been over 20 years since the film debuted to great revile, and people are still talking about it. Every time a new Batman property is announced, the distaste for ‘Batman & Robin’ rears its head once again. There’s no arguing that the film isn’t polished, but is it really a bad ‘comic book’ film?
I have been thinking about the ‘Aladdin’ remake ever since my sister dragged me to see it when it released this summer. I wasn’t expecting to like ‘Aladdin’—the film had seemingly been in production for over two years, and it had courted plenty of controversy on its way to the big screen. The cast were unfamiliar, and the reviews were already scathing. People were especially hung up on how Will Smith couldn’t replace the late, great, Robin Williams as the Genie.
