Project Runway Taught Me To "Make It Work"
I grew up in a household that really looked down on anything “girly.” I made sure not to outwardly care about my hair or nails, I certainly didn’t play with Barbies, and I always joined in when others mocked anything that other girls liked.

Scandalous Fun
The week Donald Trump was elected president, I started my first binge watch of the Shonda Rhimes show Scandal. I’d watched most of it before, though not as a binge - I sort of kept up with it as it was released, occasionally missing episodes and having to catch up or falling behind for entire seasons. But in the winter of 2016, when things felt chaotic and bleak, I absolutely tore through it.

Hindsight Is 20-20
In the first and most famous scene of HBO’s show The Newsroom, the protagonist is asked a softball question during a panel discussion at a college. Will McAvoy, a celebrity evening news anchor, is supposed to explain “why America is the greatest country in the world.” He first tries to dodge the question, but when the panel moderator refuses to accept his flippant non-answer, he launches into a monologue inspired by a sign he sees someone in the crowd holding up.

Love Wins
I don’t usually spend much time putting gas in my car. It’s an errand I squeeze in between other things, and often something I leave to the very last minute, much to the dismay of my dad. And since I’m generally rushing through the task, I never pay much attention to it, either.

The Internet's Talking Pets
Anyone who’s ever said the word “treat” or “walk” around their dog knows that our pets can understand us - at least when it comes to certain words! It’s long been clear that dogs and cats have their own ways of communicating with us, from different types of barks and body language to responding to their names and verbal commands.

Are White Lighters Truly Bad Luck?
Every hobby and culture has its own urban legends, traditions, and superstitions. Actors don’t say “Macbeth” in a theatre, nurses hate to work on full moons, and beekeepers make sure they keep their bees informed on family milestones.
