You’ll Think It’s a Reese’s
Wow, I can’t believe it’s been a decade already! So, in 2011 I had the bright idea to go into business for myself, and not just any business. I wanted to open a cupcake shop. Now, as we all know a brick and mortar location is very expensive so I started out of my kitchen only advertising on Facebook.

Just a Sunday Drive
It was March 28th of 2020 when we saw Rover. My husband likes to surprise me with adventures. Sometimes we end up getting coffee and going to thrift stores and other times we just go for a drive. It had been a cloudy few days with scattered showers so it still smelled like rain when we woke up. My husband told me to get ready for adventure. So the boots came out, hair went up, and the adventure began.

Whatever Makes Your Soul Sing, You’ll Find at the Bean!
“Knowing is half the battle.” –G. I. Joe I start by saying, I have an addiction to coffee and I am aware of it. I drink coffee most of the time. I don’t drink much water, and I’m not too big on soda and tea. I do like a cold glass of juice from time to time, but mostly it’s all about coffee.

It's Really a Hut!!!
A perfectly toasted French roll, a healthy layer of yellow mustard, and then heaps of pastrami, all with a dill pickle spear on the side; do you know what that is? I do. It’s perfection, also known as a pastrami sandwich from Tom’s restaurant in the high desert of California.

Inking my Emotions
Writing has been my passion since 1995. It all began with my 8th grade English teacher wanting all her students to write something for the “Young Author’s” contest. I decided to write a poetry book full of acrostic poems because I had never heard of them before. Acrostic poems are poems in which the first letter of each line of the poem is the first letter of the title word or words. I spent the weekend thinking of words that were simple, yet could make an impact.

Coffee in the Park…
☼ Phyzz watched from the window as Earth went from a speck in a distant galaxy to a decent sized plant. He was excited to get out of his ship. He had been traveling alone across the universe for years. Phyzz began to slow down as Earth got closer. Unfortunately, he did not start to slow down soon enough. Phyzz buckled in as he hit Earth’s atmosphere. His ship’s lifters burned off in seconds; then control was impossible and the ground was coming fast.

The King! I Found the King!
I’m going to start with I think summer birthdays suck! I know that is not the popular opinion but my birthday is in the latter half of July which meant that my friends were all off visiting family or adventuring somewhere. It is also the dead of summer and I despise the heat. As a child I spent my birthdays with family, meaning my cousins, and not that we didn’t get along but we were not close. We didn’t have a whole lot in common, still don’t in fact.

♫ To Shuffle or Not to Shuffle? ♫
I had the good fortune to grow up in house that was full of music lovers. As a child I was exposed to every genre from folk to classical and everything in between. Personally, I like music from all the genres except gospel. For instance, there are a handful of country songs I like; as well as a few EDM (electric dance music) songs. I have been to a variety of concerts: Aerosmith, Collective Soul, Eddie Money, Garbage, Leann Rimes, Great White, and Kiss.

Hoppin’ Happy Hares
When my daughter, Kilee, was fifteen she moved in with me. She had never been allowed to have a pet of any kind. After researching and reading about different pets we sat and did some talking. That’s when she decided she wanted to get a bunny. I agreed to let her have one. It took her about a week and a half of babysitting to save all of the money she estimated needing.

Strong!
Dear Kilee, I hope you are well. I want to tell you something that I think you are not aware of; sometime in the near future great things are going to start happening for you. You see, from the time you were born you have always accomplished whatever task, goal, or milestone was set before for you ahead of schedule. Even as a child you moved with purpose, both quickly and correctly. This is something that tons of adults still haven’t mastered. Your great things are coming because you are the strongest young women I know.
