Content warning: kidnapping A low vibration began in my chest as I pressed my lips together. With the sound of my blood pulsing in my ears, I did the only thing I could think of. I hummed. Quietly at first - so quietly I don’t think Malcom even heard me. But as I continued to hum the melody of the song that we had danced to on our wedding day, I forced myself to get louder.

Started From the Bottom, Now It’s Memory Foam Mattresses and Nighttime Cuddles
This is Mason. He is an American Pit Bull Terrier, and my best friend. When Mason was six months old he was found wandering the streets alone with a ruptured cruciate ligament. He was taken to the shelter, in need of extensive medical treatment. Sadly, many shelters are so overwhelmed with unadopted Pit Bulls that they aren’t able to keep ones that show up with serious and expensive injuries. Thankfully, the Treasure Coast Humane Society was not one of those places. They chose to save his life without thinking twice about the cost.

Vacuums and Buckets and Brooms, oh my!
Growing up, my mother had a place for everything. And in case we forget where it should go, everything had a label on it. I watched her spend hours organizing and cleaning. I couldn’t understand it then, but now that I’m grown with a house of my own I hear myself saying things like, the milk doesn’t go back in the fridge that way and that closet is for beach towels, not bath towels.

Great Danes, Whiskey, and Classified Missions – Things You Never Knew About the TitanicTop Story - March 2021
A week ago the extent of my knowledge about the Titanic was minimal at best. Everything I knew I learned from the James Cameron movie, and the only thing that really stuck with me was that there was definitely room for two on that floating door. A few days ago I had the opportunity to visit Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition in Orlando, Florida and I was able to hear the real story. Below is a list of 15 of the most fascinating, little known facts that I learned that day.

Boys Will be Boys (because we let them)
A young girl is standing with her friends on the playground during recess. Out of nowhere, one of the boys in her class runs by and pushes her and then takes off. When the little girl gets upset she’s told, “it’s okay. He only did it because he likes you.” Suddenly, she is the envy of all the other kindergarten girls. They want a boy to push them, too.

Priceless Treasures
It was early evening and the setting sun had cast the mountain in a golden haze. Wrinkled hands held tightly to a chest, which reflected the sun in such a way that it created a halo of light around the old man’s head. His arms grew tired; he hadn’t expected it to be this heavy. Or maybe it was him who had gotten weaker. He chose not to dwell on that, instead lowering himself onto the stump of what had once been a massive spruce tree. In his left jacket pocket was a small black notebook, the one item he always carried with him. Pulling it out, he ran his hand over the rounded corners of the notebook, mindlessly fingering the elastic closure. Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes and allowed the memories to wash over him . . .

How the Women of County Music Celebrate Anti-Valentine’s Day.
To say not everyone loves Valentine’s Day would be an understatement. For every person who believes in the power of Cupid and his arrow, there are two more who think Cupid is just a baby in a diaper brandishing a crossbow.

Locked in with Lions
Picture this - you’re in a large, octagon shaped cage and all you can hear is the roar of lions somewhere nearby. You see them start to slowly make their way towards you before they burst into a full out sprint. Instead of stopping at the cage they pounce onto it, surrounding you from all angles. It’s lunch time for these 300 pound animals and you are going to be the one to feed them.
