Hey all! I am a recent graduate from BYU in Provo with a masters in PE. I have a passion for the outdoors, physical activity, sports, and health, but I also love writing! I love my husband, parents, and all eleven of my siblings!
Living in the Dark, Staring at the Sun
I’d never been more afraid. No sounds of pursuit, and a light at the end of the tunnel. Yet I was terrified, nearly petrified. Nearly scared enough to turn around and run back the way I’d come, back to that awful place of filth and delayed, slow death. At least I knew what was back there. I’d been surviving it for years.
Shifts of Power
Aniah sat beside her mother, watching her chest rise and fall so, so slowly. The bottom half of her body was wrapped in white bandages, hiding the hideous burns. The medics were considering amputating the left leg, unsure if it was salvageable.
Narissa held Eshi tightly to her chest, crammed in the small space between the single, shabby bed and the wall. The sounds of marching feet and numerous voices rang through the tight confines, making Narissa’s heart pound. She could barely breathe as she sat, hoping to Arkardia that the passing troops would be in too big of a hurry to check inside this small, abandoned looking shack.
Army at the Gates
It was somewhat anticlimactic to break down the door with your newly gathered army only to discover that no one was home. Jistan stared in shock at the empty city. It had been sparsely populated when they’d left, but now it seemed as though the Flames had taken every living soul.
The child enters the Custody in infancy. She is an orphan; abandoned by her father at conception and her mother dead in childbirth. The Custody will now teach her valuable skills that will be of use to whatever Master pays for her services when she comes of age.
Warm Sun, No Wind
Joree briefly considered trying to drop his mother and Eshi off at some remote village, but almost immediately decided that it would be pointless. For one thing, his mom still felt guilty, as if it were somehow her fault that he had been captured and tortured. She was unlikely to let him go anywhere alone. Also, it was unlikely that anywhere was truly safe at this point. Still, it did feel odd to drag a child into a warzone.
