Laid off
"Our grant hasn't been renewed, yet, and we can only afford to pay you up to the end of this month." Those words confirmed what we had been fearing for the past four or five weeks. We were being laid off. The entire program was ending on October 31st; unless the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) approved the grant renewal before then.

The day I saw Ozzy Osbourne in person
I will never forget the day I met Ozzy Osbourne. July 29, 2022. Friday. Los Angeles, California. SiriusXM Studios. I can’t remember how I heard about it. It was either through an email or on the SiriusXM app. I found out that SiriusXM was giving away tickets to attend the release special of Ozzy Osbourne’s new album “Patient Number 9” at the SiriusXM studios in Los Angeles, CA. I clicked the link as soon as I saw it. Then, just a couple of days later I received an email informing me that I had won two tickets to the show!

People enjoy immersing themselves in fantasy to get away from the stress and anxiety that many of us experience in our real lives. Some people enjoy reading fantasy such as the Harry Potter series or J.R.R. Tolkien books. Many enjoy reading graphic novels and comic books such as those by Marvel, DC, and Dark Horse. Others enjoy dressing as fantasy characters (cosplay) with outfits they make themselves. While still others enjoy playing fantasy games such as Dungeons & Dragons. A few might prefer their fantasy to be futuristic such as Star Wars or Star Trek. My favorite fantasy escape is fantasy football. I know that some of you reading this right now might be thinking that fantasy football doesn’t qualify as a fantasy world but I beg to differ.

A Penny for Your Work
"You know, you're lucky to even have a job." I was told that by two different supervisors at two different jobs. I quit both jobs after hearing those words. If your boss tells you that you're lucky to work for them, they are telling you that you are replaceable. If they believe that you are replaceable, then they don't appreciate you or the work you do for them.
