NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is a government agency of the United States responsible for the civilian space program, as well as aeronautics and space research. Founded in 1958, NASA has played a key role in many notable space-related achievements, including the Apollo moon landings, the Skylab space station, and the development of the Space Shuttle program.
