Werewolf
Chapter 6 “Finally, some time alone...” Randolf thought to himself as he walked through the forest mist. It had been some time since he’d had a moment to himself and he jumped at the opportunity to relax. There was a secluded, small lake not far from his house that was surrounded by trees and brush. The tree canopy opened up over the water to allow the moon and stars to dance on the gentle waves. The day had been relatively warm, but the cooler night air made the moisture in the air condense into wisps of fog. There was no sound other than insects chirping and the gentle sound of water lapping on the shore.

Glancing over at the clock, Jacob was glad to see that it was only a little after four. Colin didn’t get back until after five, so he at least had an hour to talk to her. He took his cell phone out and dialed her number. It rang three times then she picked up.

Chapter 1 Rebecca awoke to her alarm clock blaring some has-been eighties rock group. She groaned, wanting to hit the snooze button just one more time, but she was already late for school. She ran to her small closet and threw on a thin green sweater, jeans. Going into the bathroom, she went about brushing her teeth and applying simple makeup. Almost without thought, her fingers reached for her mother’s necklace, a small camion with a gold chain and then a half of a heart BFF bracelet. She put her long wavy golden hair into a pony-tail and gave herself a once over look. With a sigh, she brushed her bangs out of her eyes then grabbed her backpack and hurried out to her car.

Chapter 5 When Klara returned home, she instantly raced upstairs to her room. Gerone was right, she had to put her gift to use. No one is going to believe Wiccans are good unless she did something. Luckily, she knew exactly where to start. Reaching her room, she locked the door behind her then pulled out her trunk. Feeling along one of the sides, she found the small lip for the hidden drawer and when she pulled it out, it revealed the tools of her trade including her mother’s gown. The druid style was simple, yet the vivid purple color showed the status of her mother’s powers. Only those who’d mastered the arts were gifted a dress like this and Klara remembered the wonderful moment when her mother presented the gown to her.

Despite the fear of not knowing who to trust in the village, Klara enjoyed being left alone for once. She didn’t have to fear Gertrude’s wrath and was able to read freely. Something she hadn’t been allowed to do previously. Still, Klara felt she was in a prison. She’d written letters to Gerone, asking him how he was and confiding that she needed company.

His name was Jacob; a young man of twenty who lived on a plantation with his parents. Full of ambition and intelligence, anyone who met him would think he was royalty with how he carried himself. Those who knew him best however, knew that he was a humble man who wanted nothing more than to understand the world around him as well as the people. He didn’t care for the frivalities of day to day life, preferring to learn and study. It wasn’t uncommon for him to be seen at a desk, pouring over books and ledgers with his curly brown hair messed and his deep blue eyes lined with dark circles.

Chapter 2 The next morning, Klara opened her eyes and for a moment forgot where she was. Then she remembered her aunt’s cold greeting and how Gerone had reacted to seeing her poor state. Knowing she wouldn’t have much time to herself, Klara sat quietly in bed, looking out at the sky from her window. It felt nice to be able to let her mind wander, even just for a moment. The constant rain had finally ended and the bright sunshine was a warm welcome on Klara’s face. A gentle breeze blew the fluffy clouds at just the right pace that she could imagine shapes in them, just as she’d done as a child.
