3 Things I Hope to See in the Next Installments of 'Detective Pikachu'
Minor spoilers ahead, so stop reading if you haven't seen the movie yet and want to go in not knowing a thing. Okay now we're here, let's talk about the flick. I loved the movie despite critics saying it was average. Maybe the nostalgia got to me. Or maybe I just loved seeing the Pokemon universe done right. At least so far. Let's hope for consistency and even better stories told with the next films coming. I didn't complain at any of the 3D designs and the cast was great as well, but this article isn't a review. You clicked to know what I hope to see in the next installments. I have a few ideas where they can go. That I hope they'll use in the future and here they are.

The Brilliance of the Tyson Fury/Top Rank Deal, and the Blindness of the Showtime/Deontay Wilder Fandom
It seems like boxing is prospering during the post Mayweather era. Every major network has got themselves a few major stars and those networks and apps have the money to pay them what they're worth. Back in 2013 when Floyd Mayweather signed his nine-figure deal with Showtime, the offer was looked at as something foolish to refuse. Mayweather would not only be set for life, but his family generations after would be set as well. In a sport where so many of it's legends were robbed or went broke, this mega deal would be the blue print for how boxers should handle their business. Fast forward to 2019, Canelo Alvarez (former Mayweather foe and now the face of boxing) has signed what's being called the richest contract in sports history. Another nine-figure contract in the books for a boxer. A lot can be said about Alvarez when it comes to many things in this sport. One thing's for sure is he's a big draw. Probably the biggest in the sport. With this contract signing Tyson is obviously in the big draw category. For guys like them saying a fighter is scared just isn't enough chips to play at the table cashing them in and earning a fight with them. Which brings me to why you clicked on this article in the first place ... Tyson Fury and the brilliance of his contract signing.

Why Terence Crawford Beats Errol Spence Jr
Even though this fight is still years in the making, discussions have been popping up about the potential matchup. I'm here to speak for the Terence Crawford side of the field, and why he can beat the so-called "Boogie Man" of the 147-pound division.

Why I Switched to Bang Energy
If you clicked on this post I assume you, like many other Americans (or wherever you're reading this) and I, have an intake of caffeine we get for going through our week. This is for those who drink their Redbulls, Monsters, Rockstars, or whatever other named canned drink that falls under the same umbrella. I used to drink Rockstars to push me through the week. Whenever I'd crash, I'd top it off with a Coke to bring myself back in the game. The crashes were always the bad part. When the energy drink would wear off. I'd literally feel like my tank was on E. I don't get this with Bang. The energy with Bang is at a continuous go. No crashing, which means there's no need for my habit of buying a Coke to rev myself back up. That right there is a big plus. It also should be the number one reason to switch if you're an energy drink consumer like me. In case you need more than one reason. Here's a few more that you might like.

Fighter of the Decade Debate 2010-2020
2020 is almost here and the once in a decade award is up for grabs. "Fighter of the Decade" is an award the BWAA (Boxing Writers Association of America) started giving out in the 1990s. So far the two winners of this once a decade award have gone to Roy Jones Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. My personal choice for this decade is close between the two fighters you see pictured in the thumbnail of this article. Floyd Money Mayweather and Andre S.O.G. Ward. It's called Fighter of the Decade, but I think between these two, their first five years swamp a lot of their fellow fighters accomplishments. Their next opponents after that five could be looked at as extra credit. First, let's take a walk down memory lane through Andre Ward's career of this decade.

A Letter to My Former Self
Sometimes I wish I could come back to you and see the world through your eyes again. It’s been a while. I missed when you went out more. When you socialized more, but I also hate you sometimes. You let time slip through your hands. You let people who lifted you up leave your life. You are responsible for the person who you are right now. Maybe this is just the next step to me becoming better than you? How can I tell myself that when I can honestly say those times were when you smiled genuinely? When you looked forward to tomorrow. When you actually had the perfect state of mind to create. When you were consistent with your work life and social life. Maybe I’m still that person, but I’m weighted down from our mistakes we’ve made, because I do feel that weight. It’s been every day for quite some time now. It’s like thousands of pounds shackled from my hands and feet. At first I felt like only society put them on, but as we got older, I know we were also to blame. Even though you had a better life than I. I know you wouldn’t be able to bear this weight. I’ve been carrying this for years now. Part of me believes one day I’ll be free of this and come out a better version of you. The other part feels I’m destined to carry this forever. I’ve made peace with that. I am a more realistic version of you. One that acknowledges that you need people, one that is always there for others. One that is okay with bearing the weight of other people’s problems. I guess my only problem with you was why didn’t you see this earlier? I guess it’s true when they say, “Youth is wasted on the young.” Your mistakes will just be something else I'd have to bear with. I’ll gladly pile it on with everything else. Maybe one day I can look at you and think to myself it wasn’t all your fault and all this time was worth it. I hope I can because you are a part of who I was. That’s a funny thing with time, isn’t it? You can hate people and their actions, but with time you can grow to forgive. I hope one day I’ll be able to see that day. I guess that's my biggest frustration with you. You didn't value the people you had. It was a gift you could've cherished just a little more. Instead you were only doing the bare minimum. Of course you had your reasons and I understand why you acted that way, but it was weak of you to use that as a crutch to treat the people around you the way you treated them. Your stubbornness prevented yourself from a lot of amazing things. I understand, though, I guess. Even though I hate you for having it easier than I do. I understand why you chose to live so carefree. I remember that pain you felt. I remember why you shut off so many people. Why you chose your vices over your art. I guess this is why I'm already on the road to becoming a better you. I'm more social, I'm more understanding of my surroundings, problems, and bad habits than you were. I'm still growing though. I wanna be mad at the world, but I know that won't get me nowhere. So I guess I told myself I'll be mad at you. It's funny maybe another version of us who thinks he's more mature will be writing a letter to me and I'll be sitting down listening to this. At the end of the day, I am what I am right now. Here's to what I will be.

Pacquiao vs Thurman 2019
2019 is still in its first month and a lot of the chess pieces in the 147 division have been moving. One of the pieces that moved and is on everyone’s radar is Manny Pacquiao who put on a solid performance against a fighter eleven years younger than him. Keith Thurman, the former unified champion, came off of a 2-year layoff. Against a game opponent. A lot of matchups can be made in the following months. I believe Thurman vs Pacquiao is the perfect one to be made for both fighters. One reason is because of Keith’s comeback against the brawler Lopez. The few scary moments of the fight could mean Keith might need to knock off a little more of that ring rust. A 40-year-old veteran like Manny Pacquiao could be the perfect (or dangerous) opponent for that. Second, for Pacquiao, a fighter who doesn’t like to clinch and is offensive minded would make the perfect opponent for his fighting style, especially if ring rust is still there for that opponent’s next fight. It also might be dangerous at this stage of his career. Pacquiao would also get a chance at the real WBA belt. As a fan of the sport, we know that belt he’s belt holding isn’t the top prize of that organization. Keith is the holder of the super title. On paper, the positives outweigh the negatives for both fighters.

Prediction: Adrien Broner Will Beat Pacquiao and Shock the World
Understandably, people have jumped off the Adrien Broner bandwagon. The antics and trouble with the law have been headlining news articles more than his accomplishments in boxing. As a follower of the sport, I’m well aware of this. So you may be asking how someone sees the American fighter coming out of this fight victorious. Well here’s how I see it. For one Pacquiao lately has been a part-time boxer. He’s more politician than fighter. At the end of the day, he’s still human. Balancing two important jobs like this has to take its toll. Sure he’s been winning, but you can only go to the well so many times till it starts to run dry.

Review: 'My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies'
Point blank, Ed Brubaker’s original graphic novel delivers. Ed has a talent bringing out the beauty in characters no matter how damaged or dark their background is (see Kill or Be Killed for another example). When I finished the book it made me think more of how layered Ed wrote the main character Ellie, and how the common view with most people these days when they hear about addicts or people who pass from addiction have comments like "they’re just a junkie.” Or when an addict passes we hear from some people say, “He/she wanted to die," "Why should we care?” or "That’s what he/she gets.” I think, personally, in today’s world there isn’t much sympathy, empathy or compassion when it comes to hearing about a story of addiction—whether it’s a homeless person on the street or a multi-millionaire musician who overdosed. In Brubakers, My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies he puts all three of those words perfectly in this story. It’s a story about venerability in a perspective most of us don’t know about. The book hit me on a personal level with family members and coincidentally with my taste in music also which Ellie talks about in the book beautifully. (Don’t want to type about that and give too much of the story out)

Reasons Why the Superhero Genre Is Here to Stay in Hollywood
Over the last few years, there have been opinions from respected people in Hollywood saying super hero movies are “bad content,” ruining what viewers want to see in theaters. Or running its course, similar to western movies; this comment being Spielberg’s comment. I’m here to shed some perspective on why those opinions are wrong. I have a few things I can point out. The main & probably the biggest reason I’m saying the genre is here to stay is kids. As long as there are kids there will always be marketable & profitable audience for the genre of superhero movies. For every animated/kid friendly movie there is a kid out there who dreams of being a hero & with characters like Black Panther & Wonder Woman being made into big Hollywood films, that audience keeps getting bigger & more diverse.
