Bobby Had Three Legs
One evening coming home from school, a creature stopped me from crossing the threshold into my drive. I was frozen in place till grandpa came out and called the beast to heel. Bobby moved away and sat next to him. With grandpa’s hand on his head, he looked safe and quiet.

The Night Owl Praises My Womanhood
Like a ghost in the night, I hear it most nights. The peaceful hooting that rocks me to sleep. My protector is back looking after me and the world, while we try to sleep and rest. The darkness worries and disturbs us, but it is here to make us lay down to find some rest and sleep.
