Homecoming
This is not the homecoming I planned. I thought I escaped only to come back to burn it all to the ground. I lived my whole life for them. Tried to change their broken ways and lost myself along the way. Now I carry their burdens on my hands. So many years it took me to become who I am. Everything opposite of who they thought I should become. I knew I'd face the ridicule for missing his funeral. I couldn't even understand why I had come. I hated them for so long. I still carry some of the burdens they fashioned for me. Maybe I am here to give them back. Maybe I am more human than I thought myself to be. When I enter through these doors I may never return. I will never be the same again. Pray for me as I will pray for her swift passing.

Soul Music
If I wrote a song for you would you hear what I have to say? Would you see through my words, that you are my muse? I could put you up on that mountain high—but I won’t make that mistake again. Baby, I promise this to you. If I write you a song you will see new heights. As the lyrics fall from my lips to your ears; and the notes flutter to your heart. It’s time to let go of illusions and let my music move you. Baby close your eyes—let me take you to a new high. As the music unfolds it will take you on a beautiful ride. Feel the music rise and fall, from my lips to your soul. Feel the love in the words I wrote.

Raising Generations
When my grandson was born, I felt I was too young to be called grandpa. I was a very young first-time father and was only 35 when my grandson was born. So, when I made that declaration, my daughter asked: "What would you like to be called then, dad?" and I responded "PAPA!" From that point on, I was PAPA. A title I take very seriously and with the greatest of pride.

Fatherhood
This boy has gone so long ago, his life a blur—grainy—just like this photo. Many have judged his choices, but to him, it’s all just noise. For the girl in this young boys arm is now a fearless woman with great charm. This boy could be one of his own; as they all look just like him. He has made many mistakes on this journey, but to judge his love would be an error. He has loved his family with all his spirit. Most of them are grown, starting families of their own. But at least he can still hold his “babies” in his arms. His eyes tell his story, his smile reaffirms it—it hasn’t been an easy journey but it has been worth it. But the happiest story this man’s eyes now tells is that FATHERHOOD gave him his heart and his soul.

Do You?
Do you........." It was all too surreal for her to really hear what the preacher was saying, she knew it was somewhere between the usual legal archaic shit and the beautiful words she wrote while feeling all the love in her heart for him. They thought it would never end; she was a woman, he was a gutter rat. But somehow they connected and it was so perfect.
