I love the adventure writing takes me on. I enjoy the idea of sharing them with an audience. I hope you enjoy my visions too.

George pounded the last nail on the porch swing he had just finished for Margaret. He attached the chain to a set of hooks on the broad wooden arm rests, making sure there was a place to set her Coca Cola, he made the arms extra wide. It was a beautiful swing he was excited to give it to her on her birthday tomorrow. He felt as giddy as a little a kid.

Brad sat in the kitchen of an abandoned house, carefully balancing on a rickety wooden chair, twisting the tip of his mustache. He was reading a tattered Montgomery Wards Catalogue, feeling ten years old again, safe and uncomplicated. There was something oddly familiar about this place.

Am I there yet?
The thing about writing about who you really are is the memories are not always pleasant and often painful to recollect. As I’ve mentioned before I was destined to follow my heart to become an artist, and like many artists our passions are so deeply and selfishly centered to where we don’t always have control over who gets hurt.

Integrity challenged
Being enticed with a new challenge in Vocal, has induced moments of anguish not easily ignored. Finding a relevant subject that can interest me enough to do hours of research seems daunting. Setting my inner antenna for just such a revelation, interestingly translates to every emotion and every body movement a narration in my head, a phenomenon I’ve apparently adopted when looking to spark the imagination.

Wuppie Power
Before I devoted my creative zeal to bronze sculpture I was in search of an art form that didn’t cost a weeks worth of groceries. Something I could do without tools or studio space. I was visiting my friend Steve in Topanga Canyon one day and he told me about an art fair he had rented a booth at. He made these cool little kinectic wood contraptions, very intricate with wheels and gears, when you turned a crank at one end, it would move the levers and sorted gears along the 15 inches to the far side where a tiny American flag would briskly wave. Whimsical and profound. He asked if I had anything I would like to add to it, it was three months away so had plenty of time to come up with something.

Faith, Hope and Aspirations
When I was eight years old, I knew I wanted to be an artist. I had urges. They just wouldn’t be ignored. There was a Saturday TV show in the Fifties that captivated me. Draw with Frank Webb. He exuded confidence and made me feel I could do this. All I knew was those pesky urges wanted something creative to do.
