I have enjoyed writing for most of my life, never professionally.

I wish to now share my stories with others, lets see where it goes.

Born and raised on the Canadian Prairies, I currently reside on the West Coast. I call both places home.

Two of a Kind equals a Pear
Some call it a felony. I call it a promise. No matter the outcome, I would do it again. Besides, it really isn't kidnapping. Well, he was napping, but he is no kid. He hadn't been one for about eighty-seven years. I don't know the exact age when someone is no longer referred to as a 'kid.' I am guessing around five years old. The point is, I did not kidnap anyone.

Swallow Lake
Swallow lake was a blight on the land for the locals. Not that it wasn't beautiful or serene, any visitor would think it was breathtaking. The image of what a lake in the foothills should look like. It wasn't called swallow lake because of the bird. It was given the name because of the many lives that perished and simply vanished in it's waters. People went out and just never came back, swallowed up by the lake. Gone forever.

Monday's Child
Michael woke up eleven minutes before his alarm, and twelve minutes before his mom would come in to make sure he was awake. He was too excited to sleep. He lay there for a moment listening to the sounds of birds singing outside his window, their songs always made him happy. Creeping out of bed he could hear his mother in the kitchen, probably preparing his lunch for school. Wiping the sleep from his eyes he stretched and gave one last yawn. Placing his glasses gently on his freckled nose, he silently walked down the hall. He wanted to show her how grown up he was becoming. His mom would no longer need to wake him up like a little kid anymore. Standing in the kitchen doorway Michael chirped, "Good Morning."

Who cries for an empty casket
I pour a second cup of coffee and tighten the lid on the thermos. It isn't for me; more than one cup and I start to shake. The coffee is for you. I know how much you love your coffee. I mentally prepare myself, knowing I need to finish this today, knowing I cannot fail this time. I am tired and it is too painful to keep pretending.

Suicide should never run through the mind of a twelve-year-old, but it did for Anne Madeine. Tormented by cowardly individuals she learned to turn her emotions off. Especially around bullies, and lately they were always around. She tried guarding herself from the pain. But chink by chink her armor was wearing down. Bit by bit she felt smaller, vulnerable, tired. She saw no other way out. That was before the package showed up at her door. Life was about to change for everyone, in the small town of Liberty.

Present Day: Matt Krager slammed on the breaks, a wall of dust billowing around his new Chevy truck. Hopping out of the vehicle, shined boots hitting the dry hard ground. His lips curled in disgust as he surveyed the work site. No engines noises, no workers milling around, machinery lay abandoned. The field was empty. “Where the fuck is everyone” He snarled to himself.

Our world is a living organism, that lay dormant until the time was right. The year the comet flew through the solar system, passing by earth was the beginning of the rebirth. For three days the world was bathed in a green mist of light, there was no day, no night. One week, to the day, after it passed the humans began to die, rapidly.
