High school history teachers across the country are slowly realizing that their textbooks are outdated. That is, they've recently digested the latest research on primary sources in history and are frantically rewriting their curriculum materials. This is great news for students — thanks to more authentic primary sources, they'll be better prepared to understand our modern past and the context of current events.

How accurate are history books?
History is the study of the past. It's something that we have been doing for years. All around us we are surrounded by artifacts from different times and places, from different people. This is what we have to build our history to prove that certain things happened. Are history books accurate?

Is history objective or subjective? the legends of history say so.
History may or may not be written by the victors, but there's no denying that history is a representation of reality. A biased one, with all the benefits and flaws of any other representation. And reality is what we're here to discuss: is it possible for history to be objective?

Are history books primary sources if they weren't written during the subject's lifetime?
When studying history, it's important to use primary sources to learn more about the subject. If a source is written by an eyewitness, or someone who experienced something firsthand, then it's likely a better source than a book that was published later and relies on past accounts. Why is that?

Are history books accurate?
This is an excellent question, which has actually been a topic of debate for quite some time. After all, history books are written by historians and/or other well-known authors. Hey historians, can history be objective?
I recently came across two fascinating podcasts. The first was a history podcast called Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. Carlin uses his signature dramatic and exaggerated reenactment-style performance to bring history to life with amazing personal stories of historical figures, vivid narration of primary source accounts and well produced dramatic production.

Can history repeat itself in fantasy football?
Can history repeat itself? The answer is essentially yes, and no. History doesn't necessarily repeat itself. I know that may sound like a riddle, but it's true. If something happened in the past it doesn't mean it will happen in the same way again. We can look at the past to predict future performance and gain information to help us win our leagues.

Tweet: are history teachers historians?
Are history teachers historians? Should they be? They're trained to teach history after all, and we've been taught in it as a subject since childhood. But are history teachers historians? This is the question that prompted this article. Although there might be no definitive answer, I'll discuss why many people believe they aren't, and how that affects their teaching.
