Not Always as it Appears
We left the club at 2 a.m. to gather at our regular diner stop to sober up before going home. Sitting in the corner booth, I was able to see everyone coming and going. Plates were clinking from the kitchen as the cook prepared early morning dishes to pass out to the few night owls that were hanging out. It was quiet in the diner. A man sat at the counter drinking coffee and he seemed to be keeping an eye on his watch. Groups of 3 or 4 were scattered at tables looking over menus and laughing about the evening they had just enjoyed. I decided to indulge on a tuna melt and steak fries. My friends had their minds set on breakfast. The only waitress on duty approached the table and gathered our orders. We were regular once a week visitors, so she brought us our usual coffee and let us know that she would return with our orders shortly. Quiet music could be heard throughout the diner. Low ambient lighting lit the tables and counter. A low humming of conversation took place among the few patrons that were paying their respects at 2 a.m. The diner was the place to hang out and get right before calling it a night.

Hello Aroma
Aromatherapy is the holistic treatment to promote well-being for the mind, body, and soul with the use of natural plant extracts. It enhances both physical and emotional health. It has been used for thousands of years by ancient cultures. Aromas have the ability to calm or energize our daily lives. A specific scent can evoke thoughts of a special person or even a place. A friend of mine once gave advice about trying to sell a home. She said, “Have a candle burning of German Chocolate cake or sugar cookies when I bring someone to see your home”. The smell of delicious baked goods makes a home more inviting. Sure enough, I was fortunate to make a quick sale. Certain aromas are restricted for only the fall and winter months as we hold holiday festivities. Smells of coconut and pineapple during the summer make you drift away to an island imagining yourself enjoying tropical drinks with the pretty little umbrella. Aroma therapy works not only through the sense of smell, but through skin absorption as well.

Vaccine, No Thank You!
Information is creeping out about vaccines that many of us have taken beginning in childhood. As parents, we have tried to safeguard our children with the same vaccinates so they can attend public school. Pediatricians advise that children need to be vaccinated to protect against chickenpox (varicella), diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP), hepatitis A (HepA), hepatitis B (HepB), hib, human papillomavirus (HPV), influenza, measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), meningococcal, pneumococcal (PCV), polio (IPV), and rotavirus. As I agree with some of these but live in doubt on many of them. We are all aware that immunizations may have side effects such as a sore injection site, mild fever, and possible rash. The recommendation is to administer Tylenol after an injection to combat these effects. As a parent, we strive to do what is best for our children and protect them from every harm that may come of them. The reality is that information is surfacing that immunizations and vaccines may cause more harm than do us good. The CDC advises that every child should be vaccinated, however, the same CDC is currently announcing false COVID-19 numbers. How do we make the best decisions if the information we are receiving are falsehoods? Hours of independent research of reliable sources other than what we normally see in the media will serve us best.

Masks or Evil
I am out raged! The mandates of wearing masks around the country is out of control. I stand in the position that it should be one’s personal choice as to whether or not they wear a mask in public. I, however, am asthmatic and will NOT wear a mask. To be honest, I do not care what your choice is, nor will I condemn you for it. My real problem is, why are the people more concerned about whether or not your wearing a mask as to the fact over 800,000 children per year go missing according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. First of all, that is approximately 2,000 children per day and 115 children are abducted by a stranger. Pedophilia is coming forth in the media, but no one seems to be paying attention. Evil is lurking for our children, but yet, we seemed to be more concerned about a mask.

The Joy of Home
The chaos in our nation has left many of us feeling down and out. Traveling is out of the question for most and the wearing of masks in public during summer months has us questioning the freedom our country was built on. With the election of 2020 quickly approaching, it seems we are fighting an invisible war of good versus evil. But the reality for most is that the sun is shining, children want to go outside to play, and adults want to enjoy summer vacation doing all the activities summer time brings. Sweltering temperatures are making it difficult to enjoy outdoor activities unless water is involved. So how is everyone coping? Are you taking the chance and traveling to your favorite destinations or are you making the most of it making your home and backyards the focus of enjoyment with family and friends?

Festivities of The 4th of July
As the 4th of July is upon us, I cannot help but wonder how many of us will be celebrating the day 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence. The birth of America became a federal holiday in 1941 but has long been celebrated since the 18th century. The question of independence in 2020 has surfaced on the entire world. It has made us aware that we may not be as free as what we have thought from generations before us. History is being abruptly brought down and hidden away to leaving the question, is our history being taught with truth to impressionable minds that ultimately hold the future in their hands. In today’s world, independent is defined as “not influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion, conduct, etc.; thinking or acting for oneself: an independent thinker” according to Dictionary.com. As wearing masks is still being touted to be worn and celebrations are not allowed in many places, how are many proud Americans celebrating their patriotism to the land they call home?

Take Depression Out of 2020
Political rivalry, COVID-19, and lock downs across the United States and around the world have captivated the headlines. Protests have transitioned into violent riots, leaving major cities devastated with destruction and many lives lost. The rights of police officers everywhere are under direct question and many cities are threatening to defund the men and women in Black and blue. The media neglects to share how every day citizens are feeling under the tactics of released fear and the lack of respect shown to law and order in this country. Many individuals have not been able to return to work or their businesses. Depression is plaguing many people of all ages throughout the world, and why shouldn't it be? Only someone who suffers from depression knows how another person with it feels. You need to know that you are not alone out there.
