'Invisible Monsters' By Chuck Palanuik: A Review
Anyone who was in high school between the years 2000 and 2010 probably remembers the popularity, and seemingly forbidden nature of Chuck Palanuik's books. After finding out that Fight Club, one of my favorite movies as a teenager, was actually based on a book, I had to find out more. For me, and I would assume many other 16 year old girls, anarchy plus Brad Pitt’s abs, plus multiple personalities equaled my mind blown. If I had known that Panic at the Disco had written a song about the events of the Palaniuk’s book Invisible Monsters my mind would have exploded all over my bedroom walls.

Yoga in the Meadow at Spring Mountain Ranch
Personally, I wouldn't call myself a yogi, but more of a person who has done many, many yoga classes over the past twelve years or so. While most of my yoga experiences have been at my local gym, I have participated in a few classes in different locations that I have really enjoyed. Doing yoga outdoors has been a very cool experience for me. I think being in nature helps me feel more connected to the practice of yoga. I am able to be more mindful during the class, and I feel more relaxed when it is over compared to when I have done yoga at the gym. Recently, I took a yoga class at the meadow at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park just outside of the Vegas Valley. I had a great experience I'd like to share, as well as provide some information to those who would like to give it a try.

Giving Birth Again 11 Months Later
Luckily for me, giving birth for the first time had turned out to be a much more enjoyable and less harrowing experience that I had anticipated. The fact that I had such a pleasant experience the first time definitely contributed to the fact that I ended up pregnant with baby number two when my son was only three months old. Everyone thought my husband and I were nuts for having a second kid so soon, and I can’t say we planned for her to come so soon. However, I knew I wanted my kids to be close in age and it had taken a while to conceive our first baby, so I felt more excited than overwhelmed at the thought of having another baby so soon.

Help! I’m a Substitute Teacher with No Lesson Plans! Part 2
As discussed in "Help! I'm a Substitute Teacher with No Lesson Plans! Part 1," walking into a classroom and being expected to teach a group of students when you were not provided lesson plans or the proper supplies to carry the plans left to you can be a stressful situation. Below are some tried and true activities I have used that fill time and keep students engaged. The hardest part about being left to teach a class with no lesson plans is finding enough activities to keep the students from acting poorly. Even though some of these activities are not necessarily the most intellectually stimulating, they are educational and will keep most students busy depending on their age.

10 Things I Learned Through Losing a Pregnancy
The first time I found out I was pregnant, the most apparent feeling for me was surprise. I’m not sure why I was so surprised to see a positive result on my at home pregnancy test since my husband and I had been trying, or as I always said “not preventing,” for about a year. Nonetheless, I felt surprised, scared of the inevitable labor and delivery, and also excited about this new phase in my life.

Giving Birth for the First Time
Everything about having a baby was different than I imagined it would be. I was terrified about the pain and the chaos of giving birth. I didn’t know how I would handle being in so much pain, especially unbearable pain that is childbirth based on what I had seen on TV. Once I found out I was pregnant, I think I was actually in denial about the fact that the baby would have to come out ever. I just kept putting the thought out of my mind.

No one can deny that watching football comes along with much debate among fans and sports newscasters. Men and women alike all seem to have their opinions about who is the hottest quarterback and why. One Gal’s Thoughts: ‘Bachelor in Paradise’- Week 3
Week three of BIP was highly entertaining especially with all of the new love triangles. Couples that seemed solid last week don’t seem so stable anymore and my opinions have totally shifted. Instead of talking about my favorites, I mostly want to talk about the couples and triangles since they are a little more established this week. Let’s get into it!

One Gal’s Thoughts: 'Bachelor in Paradise' - Week 2
Since discovering the show during season two, I have looked forward to watching Bachelor in Paradise every year. At first, I felt a little silly getting so involved in a dating show, but now I unashamedly admit that I love it! I have watched a couple seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, but they just don’t compare to BIP. Single guys and girls coming in at all times, looking for love makes for just the right blend of romance, comedy, and drama.

Dutch Bros Coffee Grand Opening: Blue Diamond Location in Las Vegas
Did someone say free coffee? After hearing that the new location of Dutch Bros Coffee in Las Vegas was giving away free 16 ounces drinks as a part of their grand opening I decided to head on over. I wouldn't say I had low expectations, but often times when a business is giving away anything for free it can be a bit of a chaotic experience. My experience was anything but. I don't live especially close to any Dutch Bros locations, but I will make a point to visit more often from now on.

Conquer Kindergarten, Part II: MathTop Story - August 2018
In my previous article I described different ways parents can prepare their child for Kindergarten when it comes to literacy. Obviously, math is another skill students will work on throughout their entire educational career, and it begins in Kindergarten. As a Kindergarten teacher, I noticed many students were somewhat unprepared when it came to some math topics. There are many things a parent can do with a preschool aged child to give him or her a good base when it comes to math. Here are my suggestions on how to prepare a student to be a successful math student early on.

Conquer Kindergarten: Literacy
As a first year teacher, I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. I could not wait to have my own classroom and my own students to teach. I landed a job teaching Kindergarten. I loved teaching my students, but teaching a class of 35 students with a huge variety of academic levels was definitely overwhelming. I was shocked at how unprepared some students were, and when I say “unprepared,” I mean they had never heard of the letter A. Throughout the year, I was amazed at how much the students progressed. However, I know that if some of them had begun the year with more prior knowledge, the students and I both would have had an easier time. Here are my suggestions for how to best prepare your child for Kindergarten when it comes to reading and writing.
