Duskwood: Return to the Forest: Nym0s PI
You stand near the entrance of the Aurora Bar, waiting for the arrival of your friends. It’s been several months since the group managed to free Hannah and save Richy, from the man without a face. You shiver and run your hands over your arms to stay warm. Jake had been missing for the duration of the time between now, and then, so you were shocked when he asked you all to meet with him. You’d worn your best outfit, something you kept locked away for special trips out with friends, and rarely worn. An off-the-shoulder, bodycon dress, that gripped tightly to your every curve, in a dark midnight blue, with a flowing offset sleeve on one side. The hem of the skirt clung several inches above each knee, sliding around on your thighs. Your heels pushed your height to new levels, and your hair fell over your shoulders. You’d been preparing for this day for the past six months.

Duskwood: My AI pt 4
I watch as he paces around the room muttering to himself. It’s fascinating how human he is. His movements, the way he runs his hands through his hair, bites at his fingernails and puts his hands on his hips when he stops. It’s uncanny how human he seems in moments like these. After a while of torturing me by whispering under his breath, he plops back down beside me on the edge of the bed. I give him a moment to organize his thoughts, before asking the obvious.

Duskwood: My AI Pt 3
It had been a week since Jake had moved into the apartment with me. The idea that he could be taken from me at any moment, left me feeling a million different emotions at once. Part of me wanted to experience all there was with him, but the rest of me knew that the closer we got, the worse it would feel if he disappeared. We spent most of our days getting to know each other again, which felt strange. We’d spent a year getting to know each other digitally, and although the better part of two years had passed since, nothing had changed.

Duskwood: My AI pt 2
He doesn’t notice me approaching, so I clear my throat to alert him. His head snaps up as he slides his phone into his pocket. Just as he does, my phone chimes. I decide not to check it, which might have been a mistake. I’d have caught on to what was happening much quicker if I had. Maybe? I might have overlooked the signs even as they stared me in the face. Literally.

Duskwood: My AI Pt 1
Hello friends! This is the first time I’ll be writing a full-length story instead of a smaller research piece! If you haven’t heard of me, my name is Jess, and I go by AGoreJessStone online. I’ve been a research journalist for the past five years, with a focus on games and entertainment. Now, if you haven’t read anything I’ve published before, don’t worry! You don’t need any of that to partake in the adventure I am taking you on this time!

Plight of the Shikari: Chapters 1-5
Chapter One The young man’s hands flowed gracefully over the bar as he wiped the remnants of condensation from its surface. He eyed the door warily every so often, awaiting their arrival, HER arrival. It had been some time since she’d come calling. He held his breath and listened closely to his patrons as they gossiped. He’d only hoped to gather just enough information to buy him another day, week, or month of peace in the city. Having to relocate, especially in this form, was becoming increasingly difficult. He’d try, nonetheless, if it came down to it, but he’d rather stay rooted where he felt safe. Ambrosia City was his home, and he’d like to keep it that way.

Duskwood: Into the Forest: Richy's Epilogue
“Thank you for doing this for me, Richy.” You try to smile, but your heart just isn’t in it. “No problemo.” Richy shoots you a playful thumbs up before sliding beneath your vehicle, “It’s not a big deal, honest. Dan let me take some parts off his vehicle. Not like he’s going to be driving any time soon.” You hear him chuckle.

Duskwood: Into the Forest: "Phil's Epilogue
You stare blankly at the T.V. Phil glances your way a few times as he wipes down the bar. You’re numb. After all that you’ve been through, Jake’s disappeared again, and you haven’t heard anything from him. Phil slides you a shot of your favorite liquor. You absentmindedly toss it back, igniting your throat, burning your chest. You don’t flinch. You’ll take the distraction, the pain, over the pounding in your chest.
